Any further word on Brendan?

Sorry, no. I tried, just once, to no avail, to contact the family, and I left a message. It is an awkward situation, I do not like bothering them, they may need peace and quiet. As soon as I hear anything I will post an update.

Now that I have waited a decent interval I will make discreet enquiries tomorrow.

At last I have news.

Brendan's father has not been at home much, what with hospital, and having to catch up with his paid work.

Brendan was moved from intensive care into high dependancy ward last night - so things are looking up. His body is taking over now on main functions - so providing there are no setbacks there is cause for optimism.

His parents wish all our members a happy Christmas, and again, thank you all for your prayers. They even found time, despite their worries, to tell us to look after ourselves in this cold spell of weather, wrap up well if we go out and keep our houses warm.

Thanks for the update, Rose. This is especially important because I have a number of children, from toddler age to young adult I pray for and at this time of year, these young people have their entire lives ahead of them - and knowing they stand a good chance of doing that, makes my Christmas even better.

Its chucking it down and its cold and windy, but I feel happy, because I heard from Brendan's Dad today, and the news is good.

Brendan was apparently at death's door a few weeks ago, in intensive care, parents with him all the time, and the parish clergy calling frequently. Later Brendan was able to communicate a little and was moved into the high dependancy ward.

He is progressing well, and now in an open ward. His appetite is low, and he has not regained the ability to walk - yet, but according to his Dad, - he is on the way.

Let us offer our prayers in thanksgiving, for the further improvement in Brendan's condition and for all parents in danger of losing a child of whatever age.

Are there any special request for next Sunday's prayer list?

I have one, for Brendan, the young man who was in intensive care. Later today I will have more info.

For inclusion in Sunday's list please:

Thanksgiving for continued improvement in Brendan's condition. A few weeks he was in intensive care, hovering between life and death. He is being assessed today for release into parental care with support. Brendan is very young, will need a hospital bed downstairs, other special facilities, but his father says "he seems to have survived - it makes you think that prayer can help."
