The Message of Fatima is an invitation and a school of salvation. It was initiated by the Angel of Peace (1916) and completed by Our Lady (1917). It was lived, to a heroic degree, by the three Little Shepherds.
The Message of Fatima, which is that of the Gospel, emphasizes the following points:

· permanent conversion;
· prayer, and namely the Rosary;
· the sense of collective responsibility and the practice of reparation.

The acceptance of the Message brings with it Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary, which is a symbol of commitment to faithfulness and to the apostolate.

World Apostolate of Fatima

A Solemn Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Most Holy Virgin Mary, tender Mother of men, to fulfill the desires of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the request of the Vicar of Your Son on earth, we consecrate ourselves and our families to your Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart, O Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and we recommend to You, all the people of our country and all the world.
Please accept our consecration, dearest Mother, and use us as You wish to accomplish Your designs in the world.
O Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, Queen of the Most Holy Rosary, and Queen of the World, rule over us, together with the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ, Our King. Save us from the spreading flood of modern paganism; kindle in our hearts and homes the love of purity, the practice of a virtuous life, an ardent zeal for souls, and a desire to pray the Rosary more faithfully.
We come with confidence to You, O Throne of Grace and Mother of Fair Love. Inflame us with the same Divine Fire which has inflamed Your own Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart. Make our hearts and homes Your shrine, and through us, make the Heart of Jesus, together with your rule, triumph in every heart and home.
Amen.

The local Missionaries of Charity are organizing a procession Tuesday evening in honour of Our Lady of Fatima, followed by Mass in the cathedral celebrated by the bishop.

The weather promises to be fair . . . at last.

I look forward to it.

Everything went well; the weather co-operated . . . while the bishop didn't show up, Mass was said by the excellent Cathedral rector.

All in all, an excellent evening in honour of Our Lady.

The 100th anniversary of the birth of Blessed Francisco Marto, one of the three visionaries of Our Lady of Fatima, will be marked this June with a congress on the spirituality of children.
The congress, titled "Francisco Marto: To Grow for the Gift," will be held June 18-20 at the Paul VI Pastoral Center of Fatima, and will conclude a year of events that have marked the blessed's birth centennial.
Cardinal José Policarpo, patriarch of Lisbon, will close the congress with an address on the challenges that children face in society.
In a letter announcing the congress this week, the event organizers said the event will be reflect "on the figure of this child, perceiving the challenges that it might pose to the living of the faith, and opening horizons for us to reflect on the role of children in the context of Christian spirituality."
In addition to speaking about Francisco Marto's personality and the message of Fatima, several subjects related to children will be addressed, such as music, literature, spirituality, catechesis, legal protection, theology and pastoral care.
The year marking the centenary of Francisco Marto's birth was set for June 10, 2008, through June 10, 2009, to coincide with the second day of the two-day national Children's Pilgrimage to Fatima. The blessed was born June 11, 1909.
Francisco and his sister Jacinta were beatified by John Paul II in Fatima, in 2000. They witnessed, along with their cousin Lucia de Jesus dos Santos, apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary in 1917.

On this Feast of Our Lady of Fatima, I would like to conclude by invoking Mary’s intercession as I impart my Apostolic Blessing to the children and all of you. Let us pray:

Mary, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Mother of the Redeemer: we join the many generations who have called you “Blessed”. Listen to your children as we call upon your name. You promised the three children of Fatima that “in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph”. May it be so! May love triumph over hatred, solidarity over division, and peace over every form of violence! May the love you bore your Son teach us to love God with all our heart, strength and soul. May the Almighty show us his mercy, strengthen us with his power, and fill us with every good thing (cf. Lk 1:46-56). We ask your Son Jesus to bless these children and all children who suffer throughout the world. May they receive health of body, strength of mind, and peace of soul. But most of all, may they know that they are loved with a love which knows no bounds or limits: the love of Christ which surpasses all understanding (cf. Eph 3:19). Amen.

“It is most laudable in a married woman to be devout,
but she must never forget that she is a housewife.
And sometimes she must leave God at the altar
to find Him in her housekeeping.”

FATIMA, Portugal, MAY 13, 2009 (Zenit.org).- The Virgin Mary keeps alive attitudes that combat the economic crisis and the lack of values in the world, says the cardinal who directs Caritas Internationalis.
Cardinal Óscar Rodríguez Maradiaga spoke today about the ongoing importance of the Fatima message, as the Church marks 92 years since the first of Our Lady's apparitions there.
At a Mass he celebrated with some 20 bishops and 360 priests, as well as thousands of faithful, the cardinal said, "Our world finds itself immersed in deep crises of faith, ethics and humanity, and it seems to have lost its moral orientation. The financial crisis that we are living is just one sign of that."
According to the Portuguese news agency Ecclesia, the cardinal remarked that the "invisible hand that supposedly had to guide the market has become a dishonest hand, full of greed."
"We no longer know where the limit is between good and evil," he added.
But in this situation, the cardinal affirmed, "Mary helps to keep alive the attitudes of attention, service, gift and gratuitousness."
"With the example and the help of the Virgin, Christian communities continue the mission of bringing [people] to an encounter with Christ, and because of this, we invoke her again as the Star of the new evangelization," Cardinal Rodríguez Maradiaga said.
Some 200,000 people gathered in the chill Monday evening at the sanctuary of Fatima, for a candlelight procession and a Mass also celebrated by the cardinal. It was followed by a prayer vigil that lasted until 7 a.m. today.
Love "is the best medicine against egotism and self-sufficiency," the cardinal said in that homily.
Monday during a press conference he affirmed that "solidarity is a value that is especially necessary in these times."
Only when we "go out of ourselves and look around at the others can we think of solutions for the crisis," he contended, adding that bailouts are not the answer.
"We are aware that only with dialogue is it possible to avoid reducing globalization to its economic aspect," the Honduran prelate continued. "A globalization that excludes is an evil for society."

"The 13th Day", a new film by Ian and Dominic Higgins, premiered last week at the Cannes Film Festival. The makers are currently negotiating for someone to handle the distribution and expect it to be available in North America in 6 months. I hope that they succeed and that it is also available for us over here. Here is the official trailer :
