Clare. I had to refer to an English version to try to understand the relevance of your quotation to the discussion and frankly I am no wiser.

Derek.

What I quoted was in English!

And it shows what the relationship between Jews (of the religion) and Christians, from God's perspective.

... The elder shall serve the younger. 13 As it is written: Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.

Derek. You are an ignoramus! :D

I've explained it already:

The Jews are a special, unique case.

That is why the prayer for their conversion is different from the prayers for others' conversions.

"The Jews are a special, unique case."

In the eyes of Almighty God, Clare, we are all, individually "a special unique case"!

:wall:

Can I expect you to deny that the Jews were the chosen people on account of the fact that we are all, individually, "a special unique case"?

Sadly Clare, I give up. I can only come to the conclusion that you are stubbornly anti-Jewish.

:wall:

I am anti-the Jewish religion! So is God! And the Jewish religion is anti-Christ, on account of its rejection of Him.

It does not seem unreasonable for a pro-Christ Christian to be anti- an anti-Christ religion!

You are stubbornly intransigent, Derek! :wall:

Clare can you please explain why we prayed for perfidious Jews, but not for perfidious protestants? The protestants rejected the One True Church.

I thought I'd already explained. :(

We are obliged to accept the legal force of this change once it is printed in the Acta Apostolicae Sedis. That is our duty as Catholics. Fortunately, this only means that we must accept it as a valid act of law and we are not bound by that law to even read the new prayer for the Jews.

I personally think that the 1955 prayer for the Jews is more charitable towards them and is less ambiguous.

Praying for the conversion of perfidious Jews is not anti-semitic, but an absolute act of true charity.
