Clare You chose the reference material. It talked about priviledges - as did I. But if you say its status then who am I to disagree? Gerry |

Michael, I had a moan a couple of hours ago. Now I see the funny side of your posting. If you think Gerard is rabidly anti V2, I think Gerard himself will be able to put you right on that. |

Gerry, I think you missed my point. I don't have a problem with privileges and status. I do have a problem with the desire for/envy of others' statuses. Your comments about keeping the laity in its place, and it being fortunate that there is now an extra privilege, indicates a dissatisfaction with the way things "were". In other words, there were fewer privileged roles. Now there are more! Yay! And, I'm not accusing you of envying, or any individuals. Just that your attitude seems to be indicative of a particular mindset which wants to exalt people. I'm not expressing myself very well, and I know I'll be misunderstood. But that's the best way I can put it! |

I don't think Michael was addressing Gerard. His posting was right after Gerard's but I think he was addressing those rather less enthusiastic about V2! At a guess! |

Well actually like some of the other posters on this thread, it was mentioned in our Novus Ordo parish also and all altar servers were requested to attend Mass on St Stephen's Day for that very reason... So no, I don't think it's been forgotten. |

There are a lot of churches that have a saint Stephen's society for altar servers. They organise outings and other activities. I once saw a pp initiate a group of servers (boys and girls) on Boxing Day. They received medals and a certificate. Seemed popular as there were over 30 in the procession. |
