Yes, Rose, certainly. I particularly liked:
It can't be said too often, but I haven't heard it spelt out clearly for forty years or so. The youngsters are very week on it. |

I wondered whether I should mention this, but well..... Sometime ago, when it was reported that the Compendium was going very well and there was a reprint under consideration, not wanting to purchase it myself because I have the full Catechism and the compendium on computer, I was nosy about how thick the book was. I can be like that - value for money you know. Anyway I went to a bookshop in a Cathedral (won't say where!) - and they hadn't even heard of it. Passing through at the time was a priest, he seemed doubtful, but when he fell in that I was making an inquiry on availability, he suddenly remembered he might have one in his car. I declined the offer and explained that I had the full Catechism and wished only to see the book itself. Both of us quickly departed. (well I quickly anyway) PJD |

Thanks for getting back on this Nelly. I wonder why they changed the name - particularly as Save the Children already have a ""Caris" website. I tried to check the website for the magazine http://www.gracemag.co.uk/ but it's being updated so I'll have to wait. KatyA |

Isn't Caris Welsh or Celtic for Grace?? I have the first edition too Nelly - I requested it for my 16 year old daughter to read. I opened the mail this very morning in fact. I also printed off the Internet blurb about Tamezin as my daughter has a friend who wants to be a photographer, so this mag should be beneficial for her. (Hi Karin - back online again thankfully!!) |

Could be. I was curious so did a search and "caris" is apparently Greek, and means Grace (perhaps a Greek scholar could confirm?) - or, it could also derive from the old English "Charis" meaning Grace. KatyA |

Actually I think the Welsh version might be Cerys. Ok so I have the mag in front of me. 1st page: Water is Life - UNICEF advert; 2nd page Editor's letter introducing the mag. Followed by: contents page; "Cringe" page (!); What's your carbon footprint? Christian Aid - choose your gap year souvenir; Elvis Dads; exclusive on Busted's Charlie Simpson; Looking after Dad - being a teenage carer; the ultimate girls' night in; beauty info; Christian cheerleading group; readers' survey; fashion; Climate Change article; music; best reads; sleepover movies (the only movie choice I disagreed with was Dirty Dancing as the story involves an abortion as a "quick fix"); events page; feature on Christian America Ferrera who plays Ugly Betty - great comments; friendship article; career help and finally problem page / school dilemmas. I think it's great. So much better than the trashy Glamour which my daughter has brought home a couple of times to my horror. It doesn't involve in your face Christianity but there's a kind of decency about the mag that I haven't seen in any other teenage magazines. I wish it had been around when I was growing up in the 70's and 80's. I had to make do with the sort of ok-ish Jackie (by the way did you know the editor for that magazine was actually the popular children's author today Jacqueline Wilson - hence the name Jackie?) |

Emee Iwas a bit taken aback with the Dirty Dancing one as well not as bad as Greece but not a film I would be that keen to promote. The Gap year stuff info realy appealed to my 14 year old, the other thing I wasnt to keen on was the cringe story about the Bikini, but then I`m getting on a bit. Emee have you subscribed to Tamizine, my Mum used to get for her house for the Grandaughters, but my oldest was too young to apprieciate it. nelly |

Not as yet Nelly. I would like to get hold of a copy of it first to show my daughter and her friends. I'll email the mag and ask if they'll let me have a trial copy first! |
