Women Burned Out At 30!

here is some really good news for the weekend, for those of our ladies who have hit the 30 barrier!

" women in their thirties who appear to "have it all" compared with previous generations are in fact exhausted and unhappy, a survey has claimed.

Lack of sleep and eating "on the hoof" rather than sitting down to regular family meals add to the problems of trying to do too much.

Nearly half of female thirtysomethings - typified by Renee Zellweger in Bridget Jones's Diary - regularly call in sick at work because they are under so much stress, the study found.

The Female Health Survey revealed that women find the 30s by far the toughest decade.

Nearly nine out of 10 said they frequently feel tired, with 59% saying they feel tired all the time, and only a quarter get enough sleep."

The full report was issued by the Female Health Survey

I thought the news article was hysterical...with 30 being the new 40 - and we've heard 40 is the new 30. Hmmm....Rose, KatyA, other girls....where do WE fit in?

As this forum concentrates on Catholicism I am about to give this topic a Catholic perspective. :D

That explains why so few of them are in Church on Sundays. They have a lie in because they have worn themselves out concentrating on their careers (ie shelf filling at the supermarket) and spent Saturday evening getting smashed at the night club to get over a heavy week.

Blame that on The Pill. If they lived normal lives and had a baby a year, they would have to sit at the table, spoon feeding the youngest members of the family.

Good Catholic women don't call in sick. They are either looking after babies, or busy doing their work, in religious orders.

Oh, I see. That explains why they defer running parishes and bossing priests about until they are more mature.

Of course they don't get enough sleep. Modern woman priorites. She gives a high priority to her sex life.

Somebody had to do it. What do the bishops say about the hedonistic lifestyles of young women?

The obvious solution is:

A return to the good old days, when we who attended convent school learnt proper values. We were encouraged to have careers, but - we were taught that motherhood was a proud profession, and encouraged to relax and pray.

Hi Rose,

Could not agree with you more. I had a visit yesterday where the Catholic mother had seven at thirty! She did not have time to eat on the hoof or sleep well.

But she also had a club foot which made it easier for her husband to catch her on the rout around the dinning room table it seems!

But I have never seen a happier woman in years. The unmarried son was not to appreciative of my attention though! Especially when I got the scalpel out!

Yours in His Everlovingtenderkindness!

Colin.

Personally I think they look in the mirror at that age and realise they are no longer in their twenties. Then they look at the 'big 40'. Then they wish they had been more adventurous in their late teens. They they look back in their imaginations and present fairy stories to themselves coupled with the handsome prince.

Perhaps then they get depressed?

(smile)

Then they look at their wives and settle for living happily ever after, according to God's plan.

That's what they are supposed to do Rose.

Temptation can never be excluded.

And much as women would like it - we don't live in Eden anymore unfortunately.

How's that!

Have we not, alas, had more than enough examples of women criminals whose education was in a convent school?

Now Derek,

I am supposed to come up with that one but I got the feeling of playing with fire.

Bearing in mind my daughter was educated in a Convent School where the Sisters could be positively dangerous if you suggested something like that!

I would be very interested to know why you think this and would you say it is common or rare!

Yours in His Name,

Colin.

Can anyone think of a Catholic angle to this please? I did try.

Are the thirty somethings left out in parish activities?

According to my mum, nuns are lethal with a ruler at thirty paces...

:(

My mum (as a girl) use to stand on her head in the playground - until Sister caught her and retorted, "Olive McKenna, would you stop doing that, you're showing the boys all your paraphernalia!"

True story.

Why does Catholicism have to be confined to the "parish"?

This story should be of great interest to Catholics.

Nature rebels against us when we try to rebel against it. And hence the burn-out.
