I am asking all members for a bit of co-operation, regarding starting new threads rather than look to see if we already have a suitable one. Yes, it takes time, looking through all those pages but:

It takes me a long time, merging threads. Two hours in one evening! More will need to be done tomorrow, to keep subjects together.

Please, if it is a minor matter, or casual, use the Miscellaneous thread.

Prayer Requests in Prayer Group please. We rarely make exceptions, but have occasionally, for is a special request when a member is ill or bereaved, or a senior member of the hierarchy for instance if one of our Bishops is ill or has died. Even those are eventually merged into Prayer Group, and it is that Prayer Group that makes our little Cyberparish special and personal.

Fifteen topics have been merged since yesterday evening. We are doing more today.

Please, help moderators by looking first to see if there is an appropriate thread, before starting a new one. It is probable we have something suitable. All we are doing is trying to avoid having so many nobody can find their way.

Merging can be time consuming.

I have put lots of threads on politics together, and grouped some on The Press. When I get the time, I will do my best to give members the names of amalgamated threads. I also merged a few on vocations, and a couple on baptism.

The sun is shining, I'm going out on my mountain bike.

No postings have been deleted during this tidying up operation.

I'm at it again, merging threads. For instance, there were three about Catholic schools, a few about the Sacrament of Matrimony, If you started a thread and can't find it, feel free to ask me where it is. Hopefully I will be able to point you in the right direction. Nothing is being totally wiped out. No subjects currently under discussion are affected.

The Where Are They Now? project has been a new success.

We now have a section called Catholic Teaching. It is based on the Compendium of the Catechism.

Here is a copy of Katy's Introduction.

This section is intended for those who want to know and understand our Faith, whether cradle Catholic, convert, revert, just curious or perhaps needing some information to answer questions from non-catholics.
We hope it will be useful to casual browsers and to our members.

This is quite an ambitious project, and in order to keep it as simple and workable as possible, threads will be opened by moderators.
We will post sections from the Compendium for discussion, questions, recommendations for further reading etc. Please join in freely. If you wish to question or comment anonymously, please pm any of the admin staff.

One aim of the new section is to provide a place where we can share our thoughts about the teachings in the Catechism and, hopefully, resolve difficulties we may have and strengthen our faith.

Another aim is to help people who are either not Catholic, or are Catholic and wish to widen their knowledge of the Faith. Who knows whether somebody our there is a little nervous of calling in at a Catholic Church to find out about our beliefs?

Please join in. One never knows who might gain from reading this forum. Just go into the CATHOLIC TEACHING section. Any help will be appreciated.

The new section has been renamed CATHOLIC TEACHING for the benefit of casual browsers who may not be familiar with the word "Catechesis"

Do any members have any observations on the Catholic Teaching Section?

Satan uses the internet to promulgate false teaching. Lets use the internet to explore and promulgate the TRUE Faith.

Concerns have been expressed that some inappropriate personal comments have been made to, or about, individual members.

May I draw all members attention to our forum rules (which may be accessed in full from the link at top left of the main page). Rule #1 includes the words

On the advice of invisionfree I have disabled the REPORT button, so we are back to members sending private messages to Eve if they are unhappy about a posting,
.

Invisionfree are busy doing an upgrade of their complete programme.

I would like to see our Prayer Group revived. That is where we used to post our requests and thanksgivings, on a regular basis.

Today we have one on behalf of our forum member, Clare. I have posted the request in Prayer Group, which is permanently pinned in the top section of Page 1.
