Please, please, will members avoid the use of excessive amounts of bold type? It is classed as shouting, also some people with defective vision (for example cataract) have to miss reading such posts because they cannot cope with it. Similarly, with flashing signs, there is give and take on the forum, so no complaints. So far we have had no instances of large amounts of it. I just thought it worthy of mention. Thank you all. |

I am merging a few discussions with General Chatter, Some should have been in General Chatter because we provide that for a place of relaxation where members can indulge in any Catholic or secular "small talk and friendship", which is good. We do ask for other threads to be Catholic because that is what the forum is for. Some are being merged because they had few responses, for example Rose's discussion "I thank God for" was definitely Catholic but died out after a day. All I am doing with some is "uncluttering" the list of topics: I do that from time to time, usually on Friday evenings. Nothing at all has been or is being deleted in this little exercise - just tidying up. |

At least one member is not receiving private messages due to the Inbox being full. To empty the box, or clear if of unwanted items: 1 To remove the lot. There is a little box at the top right. Click that, it automatically ticks the little boxes to the right of all messages. At the bottom there is a box for deleting. Click that. 2 To remove selected messages: Tick the box at the right of messages you want to delete, then tick the delete button at the bottom. |

Will the person I am trying to contact, please clear some messages from his/her Inbox? Click Inbox at the top of the screen, then please, please follow the advice given in the posting I made on this thread, earlier today. |

I am quite happy to double the size of the Inbox for members if that helps. Personal Messaging storage capacity is now 100 - double. |

Moderators are becoming concerned at the sheer number of videos and photographs of Masses, being posted on this site, giving rise to two problems: 1 Discussion is interrupted. 2 An erroneous impression this is a site specifically aimed at people who like to be known as "Traditional Catholics" Over a period of two years this forum has developed into a virtual parish. We have room for all. Some look forward to attending Mass in the New Rite which is the norm in our parish churches. We have members who prefer the Tridentine Rite and/or Mass in Latin rather than English. A number are members of Charismatic Renewal Prayer Groups. We are a very mixed group, as we would be if we associated in a geographical parish. That is the way it should be. By all means discuss your preference of Rites, liturgical practises or devotions. We may have to archive some of the pictorial representations if they dominate discussions. After Easter, graphic representations of Easter Liturgy will be transferred to one thread which will be locked. |

I draw the attention of members to the Forum Rules and Guidelines:
Moderating can be difficult. We try to be fair to all and allow reasonable free speech, but we must all bear in mind that what has been approved by His Holiness the Pope and/or persons authorised by him, is duly authorised by Holy Mother Church and must be respected. |

We moderators have lives to live, families, jobs, responsibilities. We also propose having free time. During the past week we have had to do more moderating than we usually do in months. Members start new topics, others join in and enjoy the conversation, then it is suddenly taken right off at a tangent. First, I give a broad hint, then a request, that we stick to the topic. Then, I end up doing quite a bit of work. First I have to select which posts to split from the thread, then find an appropriate place for them. If it continues I might use the easier method, just delete them. Please, please, show some consideration. |

In Forum Notices section, there is a note from me regarding an amendment to the forum Rules and Guidelines. It would be appreciated if all members read it. |

Members have an option to hide their email addresses. Many consider the private message facility is adequate for communicating with other members. The choice is yours, but: If your email address is showing, any casual browser using this forum can send you an email. Then, they look at their sent email addresses and they know yours. If you want to hide your email address: Click the box near the top "My Controls" Click the box "email settings" click to hide it. If you hide your email address your privacy is protected, but the Admin staff still know it on our database, so have no fears that we will be unable to contact you when necessary |

I display an address in case people not registered want to contact the forum. It is the forum admin address. For personal message I prefer the forum pm system. |

I think the use of in and outbox here is the best way. At least for me because my E mail has changed so much because the original freeserve went through several owners in quick succession ending up with wanadoo; who kept phoning etc. So having a lap top given to me I now use the simple hotmail facility. Don't get many hotmails, but then not many e mail me (sad) - but no need (content). PJD |

Lucky you PJD. I seem to get E mail from all and sundry for anything from "meet the partner of your life" to "You have just won a million dollars" Needless to say its "tick all" and erase. |

jimc1 like I said, the email address I have on here is not a personal one. It is for the use of all admins and moderators. For forum members we have the private message facility, that is how most members communicate on a personal level. It is a good system. Nobody but yourself can see your private messages. Even the adminstrators have no means of reading them (not that we would). |
