UK TV viewers may have seen a rather long winded programme on ITV that rounded off Easter Sunday. This comprised the trotting out of the usual tired old myths from some of the Gnostic gospels centering on Mary Magdalen. The whole programme held together with Da Vinci Code type imagery and a series of 'cameos' of various academic females spouting their gender agenda stuff. Amusingly one of the male versions from the States looked incredibly like Gerry Adams although the accent was a lot softer than the real deal! The voice of the Church was left to one bearded middle aged gent from the University of Toronto who wore a pullover and looked bored. He was fantastic! :D As the ladies huffed and puffed and Gerry Adams gasped at the sheer enormity of the programme's 'revelations' our friend in the pullover simply shrugged and confided to camera that it was all just.........well........rubbish! SANTO SUBITO! CARLO |

People who claim to have no interest in religion, and say the Bible is boring (ask if they've read it) love to tell me Jesus married Mary Magdalen. If they are not interested in religion and think the Bible is boring, why do they care who married whom? There's nowt so queer as folk. |

Rose Quite right! I forgot to say that some of the programme featured various Churches in France where one legend has it that Mary Magdalen fled. A jolly French monk from Provence waxed lyrical at the French claims to the bones and other relics of Mary Magdalen which had been the occasion of building many a sumptous Church and Cathedral some of which were displayed for our appreciation. A tired looking English female academic more interested in religious art than fairy tales sighed and explained to us that......well the French.......needed the money! Well indeed. Oremus What can you say? CARLO |

Rose Absolutley! And apparently the French (God preserve them) have three whole bodies plus some 'spare parts' all belonging to Mary Magdalen. That is if various claims are to be believed of course. Orate fratres Women! CARLO |

Carlo, just watched a programme on the History Channel The secrets of Mary Magdalene... just people trying tobe very clever... the problem is , as Rose points out people go for it , I think I now understand where some of the more mad cap Feminisim comes from within the Church, Mary Magdalene was said to be a diciple who got up Peter`s nose , so he got shot of her, then the church ie the menfolk thought that she was a threat to there Power / Control... so they set about having her as the Prostitute... and it goes on. remarkable stuff by female accademics and I can see how some would fall for it all...me in my younger days like I did with Marx... deary me... What about the Programme last night about the Bible, very antiCatholic anti Rome anti Latin... did any one see it the guy who presented it does have Chrisophobia I`ve seen him on other programmes nelly |

Ya know, I like to look into Church history and all that. I've even read the quote (somewhere) from the Gospel of St. Thomas (Gnostic) that's used to say that Mary Magdalen married Jesus. The quote does not say this - it's inferred by those using it. The Gnostic Gospels were all written well after the Gospels we all know and love and the Gnostics were challenged by the Early Fathers of the Church. Some of the writings of the Early Fathers blast the Gnostics into orbit. I've not seen the programs you have been referring to, but the arguments used I am familiar with. "Rubbish" is indeed the only way to describe them. |
