Patrick there is nothing in the report that suggests the man actually went to Medjugorje, or arranged a journey to get there. He has a seriously bad criminal record. For all we know, he might have thought up a quick excuse to put police off the scent of other intentions. He lives on a licensed emergency gipsy site, for all we know he may have wished to visit Bosnia to see friends - there are many gipsies in Bosnia. He might even be married to a Bosnian woman. The man's activities have no bearing on whether or not the claims about Medjugorje are genuine. |

The report is correct. His intention was to go on a pilgrimage to Bosnia, the paper didn't mention Medjugorje but that was his planned destination. No Rose, I know the article doesn't have any relevance to the veracity of the apparitions but it does show what lengths this particular person went to to get there. Edited by Patrick, Wednesday, 16. The report only says that HE SAID that was the reason. |

If he said he had a fake passport because he wanted to goto Bosnia on pilgrimage with his family then that is probably the case. It wouldn't matter what he said in defense, there are no mitigating circumstances for being in possession of a fake passport. Saying that he had it to go on a pilgrimage would make no difference to his sentence than if he had said that he wanted to go on holiday in the Costa del Sol. |

If he had managed to get to Medjugorje, Lourdes, Fatima or any other place of prayer Patrick, it could have done no harm. All three places are known for great conversions. God bless Pete |

True, Pete, very true. We do hear of sudden conversions taking place, in the most unexpected circumstances (like travelling to Damascus - Saint Paul). Douglas Hyde, who was editor of the Communist newspaper The Daily Worker, walked into a church one day, unaware of the reason. He found himself kneeling in front of a statue of Our Lady, whispering the words of a song "Lady be good to me." That moment was the beginning of his conversion. He became editor of the Catholic Herald. We do not know what would have happened to this man if he had made his way to Medjugorje. But, for all we know, he might turn to God in some other place. |
