Happy Couple!
I have a question about St. Philomena...
My friend who was my confirmation sponsor has given me a St. Philomena chaplet and prayer book of the "Living Rosary" prayed in her name, but I am aware that St. Philomena was "demoted" for want of a better word:
Quote:

On 14 February 1961, the Holy See ordered that the name of Saint Philomena be removed from all liturgical calendars that mentioned her

So is it ok to pray for her intercession or not?

This isn't the first time my friend has given me something "dodgy" ~ she gave me a book about Christina Gallagher whose visions and stigmata were investigated by the Vatican and found to be false, and the autobiography of Oonagh Shanley, an ex-nun who was heavily involved in eastern practises of "spiritual healing". I am beginning to treat very warily anything she suggests now! It was the same friend who secretly baptised her grand-daughter, as I mentioned in another thread.

So can anyone shed light on whether St. Philomena is a valid saint?

Many thanks,
Mrs.P xx

“It is most laudable in a married woman to be devout,
but she must never forget that she is a housewife.
And sometimes she must leave God at the altar
to find Him in her housekeeping.”
