The Abbot may be concerned about what he sees as consumerism. What is the harm in a family spending their own money on having fun? A Church of England bishop has urged people to give each other jars of home made jam at Christmas, instead of buying presents. A Catholic abbot is anti Disney. Don't they know the retail trade and entertainment employ people, who can do without being put out of work and thrown on the dole queue? If we were all of like mind to those two, we could transfer our poverty inclinations to boycotting monastic shops, that tend to stock goods of the highest quality. At one time, two subsidiary companies of Disney were producing material that produced material that was not compatible with Christian moral standards. Disney has broken the connection with those companies. http://www.afa.net/disney/ Hey, lets ask the Abbot if its ok to watch The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe, produced by Disney. |
