There's news too that Catholic Ireland is changing - A Catholic school in rural Ireland allegedly barred a boy from wearing the Miraculous Medal under his shirt. However the Parish Priest has now clarified the situation. No, the school never barred the medal; it was the medal's chain that was barred, on Health & Safety grounds. The Irish Independent's website has a report - http://www.independent.ie/education/latest-news/priest-dismisses-school-row-over-holy-medal-as-storm-in-a-teacup-1482645.html Prior to the PP's statement there had been some speculation that the apparent ban on religious items might be linked to the debate concerning the dress of Muslim girls at Catholic Schools.
