Posted by Spam_fiend (Co-Admin) at Nov 6 2007, 09:15 PM. 0 comments

Just to let all know the new website is now live. There are a few teething problems which I will iron out in the next week or so, but enjoy what you can.

As before, any suggestions, please email me at lairdsinthecommunity@gmail.com and I will see what I can do.

Thanks for your patience.

THE FORUM IS MOVING!!!

Posted by Glocko (Co-Admin) at Nov 4 2007, 06:36 PM. 5 comments

http://www.nonleaguezone.com/viewforum.php?f=88

Well we really need to move the forum to another place, due to the common misconception that your average Lairds fan was in desparate need of Sexual stimulation whether it be through Viagra or photos of someones Nan we have been plagued by rogue memberships generated by a computer tucked away in Warsaw or Kiev.

The result was the drought of postings apart from the trusted few.
This site will be kept live for the next few days to allow migration of certain threads but get yourself on the new one to start new convos.

NonLeagueZone is a tried and tested site for club forums and is spam proof, the forum will be modded by Myself and Spam but if anyone would like to volunteer themselves to help out in the moderation that would be great!

Thanks to Dan who set this up in the first place.

Goole v Cammell Laird predictions

Posted by Graham (Members) at Nov 4 2007, 06:19 PM. 0 comments

The IOM game should sort out the wheat from the chaff in the pundits league, so for those who might have failed miserably, I've allowed you all plenty of time to ponder the Goole Town fixture.
Goole have only lost 4 in the league to date, so they'll be no pushovers
I'm going for....
Goole 1 Cammell Laird 2
Hay, Nezzy

Goole away

With the demise of The Big Blue Rattler,I thought I'd try and see if it's possible on the train.I've used Hamilton Square to Goole(station is a stones throw from the ground). You can do it.Check National Rail Enquiries for times, but I am looking at cost. The route is Birkenhead to Lime Street, then to Manchester.Manchester to Doncaster, then Doncaster to Goole.A saver return to Goole is £49.30!!!(crickey,sell the Land Rover!),but if you break the journey down into it's components,Hamilton Sq to Mancheter £11.30,Mancheter to Doncaster 14.10 and Doncaster to Goole £4.80(all saver returns, not a lot of singles availible),making a total of £30.20,a saving of £19.10!!!!Fantastic,or you could bum a lift or stay at home!National Express can get you there cheaper only if you don't mind hanging around in Leeds for 75 minutes.Journey time on the train is about 3 and a quarter hours. If you have the time and patience, you might be able to make it cheaper by further breaking up the journey with more legs and returns. The choice is yours! No chemicals were tested on animals during my research. Cammell Laird v IOM predictions

Loads of time for more to join in
I'm off to Poundland or somewhere to find a cheap trophy for the November winner.

No idea what sort of team will be fielded for this one, but

Cammell Laird 4 IOM 1
Graham Jones
Lee Atherton
Jason Ward
Nez

Can't make the game that night though, my son has an appointment in Leeds

Cammell Laird v Nantwich Town (score prediction)

Posted by Graham (Members) at Nov 2 2007, 08:13 PM. 13 comments

A little compy, nicked from the Buxton fan forum (an countless others no doubt), open to all. One go per match per person
Deadline for entries will be up to the minute before kick-off

Haven't finalised a scoring system, but let's say 5 points for the correct team score, 5 points for the correct outcome (win lose draw), Therefore a totally correct scorline =15 points.
5 points for each correct CLFC goal scorer

2 points for getting the correct score first (in the event of a tie)

So, to get the ball rolling (for want of a better phrase) for our first match in November I predict

Cammel Laird 2 Nantwich 1
Hay
Jebb

Scrap the Forum??

Posted by Spam_fiend (Co-Admin) at Nov 2 2007, 10:11 AM. 15 comments

I have been in Ireland for nearly 4 months now, and in that time I came to look at the forum as my main point of news or topic interest, but the last month or so, it has virtually died. Where are all the posters??

Dad & Lad never put anything on the forum any more, and that goes for general or the ressies and the youth teams.

Apart from myself, Glocko, Graham, Gort and 1 or 2 others, no-one posts here any more. Now before people start shouting off at me, just think about the other clubs forums. There is always something there to talk about, but with us, there is nothing at all which is a real shame.

This forum has died at the moment, and unless it improves soon, I reckon we should do one of two things.

The first is shut the forum down, and give it a decent burial or the second is remove the members only block, because at least with all the porn links coming through, we would have something new to look at in the very least!

Lets hope this gets someone other than the usual crew talking, but I really doubt it. :(

Kenny's Funeral

Posted by Glocko (Co-Admin) at Oct 29 2007, 09:08 PM. 0 comments

Kenny's funeral will be at Landican this coming Thursday at 10 am, central crematorium.
There will be a buffet and drinks back at the Lairds Club straight afterwards.

All supporters and officials of both the football and bowls section are invited to pay their last respects to our mate. Wear your Lairds scarves if possible and let's show him how much he meant to this little club.

Please let anyone know who may not have access to the internet.

Do we have a match midweek?? Just got off the blower to my old man, and he thinks there is a re-arranged fixture this coming week. Anyone shed any light on it for me. I know we where meant to be playing Nantwich but I think they are still in the cup.
