ok, as you guys may know already, my big shet exams are now and will continue for the next 3 weeks. i have about 10 papers, did 1 yesterday so bout 9 more to go.

basically, i am a slacker in real life so now its all last minute revision for me to just hope beyond hope that i do sufficiently well in these exams. as a result, i am forced to pump in over 15 hours of study each day with bout 3 hours sleep per day as well. that leaves 6 hours... for my exams and other basic stuffs like eat, shit and crap. yea.. so i am really sry but i cant keep up with mentoring recruits at the moment.

so erm, could someone please help me cover mentor duties? i believe we have 3 recent recruits who asked for mentors and i am sure more will come in the next 3 weeks. i big time promise that i will be back fully charged like hell once my exams are over.

so, a basic guideline to what mentors should do:

1) Send a mail to recruits asking for a mentor and get them to check their forum inbox.

this is what i use:

Hey!

In order for you do gain membership status, you will need 4 easy requirments:
- 30 posts on the forums (or post count average of 1 after 30 days)
- register on the clan IRC (#cosclan)
- attend at least 3 official events
- 100 f2p combat lvl

First off I'd like to say welcome to Council of Saradomin, as I will be your Mentor for the first 30 days you are here.

Second I'd like to encourage you to take part in our IRC channel (#cosclan). Our IRC channel is a place where all COS Members and friends can hang out, chat about RS, get tips, joke around, set up event and even play types of games. If you joined COS for our community, we strongly encourage being a part of it through the IRC. If you are not familiar on how to use IRC you can use the link below to connect and follow the world's easiest 3 steps below.

IRC:
http://pjirc.viper007bond.com/?nick=nickgo...rc.swiftirc.net

1. Click the link above
2. Enter your Runescape name or forum name into the "nickgoeshere" field.
3. Click login. You are in, it's that simple!

This is the easiest way to take part in our community without having to download anything. Our channel is also used for setting up events, another reason you likely joined.

I hope that you become part of our Brotherhood for the future.

Welcome,
Firzen Dustdevils (dust)

*personal message so recruit feels loved :)*

2) add all recruits, regardless of whether they asked for a mentor or not, in game.

3) make it a point to talk to them whenever you see them online. trust me, they love it. as long as you dun continuously pester them like their parents or something. like a 'hi' and like 'wanna pop by kbd event this monday?'

4) encourage them to come by irc. find out why they cannot come by irc. most of the time, they think you have to download some client to excess irc, which they hate. just clarify this with them.

5) track their progress in forums post count and event logs.

yea.. this is all. not much really. its just the basic stuff i do and barely takes up 30 minutes a day. makes them feel loved. :D (see toxxik? his good example lol. chatting non stop in the shoutbox since i got to him in game.)
o yea.. sry for not updating the recruit log for the past month. i'll do it after these 3 weeks of exams.

once again, thanks to whoever will be covering for my mentor duties. :) :)

tbh, i think it will be a good time to let foxbat (caleb) try this out. he has been pretty constant on the forums lately :)

Thanks a lot.

Thanks for all this Dust, you are the man.

And on a small related side note, I've been doing a bunch of recruiting the past day or so. It's been pretty effective, a handful so far. :D
