Wow, 1st of all i really am in tune with colins mind.. iv been thinking the same thoughts the last few months about this clan. Often getting as far as half way through a leaving post.. thats how close iv been to quitting (on numerous occations). I think Colin has gone about this in 100% the correct way.. Hopefully some of the staff have been imbarrased by this thread and so now put more effort into the clan.

On another note i think its fair enough people have lifes to live and rs is ofcourse second to that. Same with me.. BUT as halla said this clan is a runescape clan and sooo not much use if u dont actually play runescape any more.. step down and become clan friend if that is the case?

What colin said is maybe why i have lost alot of pride in this clan in the last few months and that has had a huge effect on how much i actually play rs.. sad. Dont wna sound like i am being harsh at all here by the way because i really do like this clan and the members AND the staff... Met some really cool people here and that is what stopped me quiting.

I hope this is read and somehow my pride in Council Of Saradomin is rekindled.

I would like to make one other point actually. In the archives of the clan, there are at least three topics started by me asking this same question: Is COS Dying?
The answer I always got was "no, just a bit inactive atm"

What I believe is happening is simply just a cycle. COS will recover, we will be fine. I know that we have too many members, super active or not, that care way to much about this clan to let it die. We are approaching three years of life as a clan, and over the years we have seen people come and go. Through it all, Icie has stood (active and otherwise) strong with a good staff and run the clan well. We have endured through rough patches, and it has made the ride through the fun times even better.

Don't give up on us now. There is no way that the COS will be gone in a week, in a month, or even a year. I would not let that happen, and I know Icie would not. And I know that every single person whose life has been spent, in part, giving time to bettering the COS. Personally I would log in every day to the forums and post until I was the only registered member. Even then, I would check back often in the hope some other long-forgotten name would reappear to reminisce about the good old days of COS.

We will keep the clan strong. We will not give up. We will fight for the COS, and die for the COS. Because we dare to hope that one day the COS will stand above the rest, as a beacon and an example to every clan in RuneScape. Where the brotherhood can be found, and every member feels welcomed home every time they log on. Where excellence on the battlefield does not compromise excellence in class and character. Where no challenge is too great, or too small, because our members will not say they cannot be bothered, our members will rise up as one body and say to the challenge and say to the world "Yes We Can, because We Are COS!"

Ever consider a career as a basketball coach? Sounds like the perfect position for you.

OT, I agree with Colin to a certain degree (mainly cause I can't agree with anything he says completely, or else the world will explode). This clan isn't going to die anytime soon, but maybe some of the admin need a little...umm...sidelines boost? Something like a "Go team, go!" thing. Bleh. Spouting random bits of crap ftl. Why am I posting this again?

P.S. Yes that was a rhetorical question.

Arudd, new sections will not necessarily make new posts. Personally, I think several of the sections in the forums could be merged since it's too disorganized. >_> However, I do agree that forum activity could be bolstered a bit.

I have thought it would be fun to be a coach. Actually though, I was thinking more along the lines of Icie's speech writer once he gets elected.

I omitted all the comments made by other people or myself or Colin that weren't related to what we were talking about.

So, Colin couldn't answer my questions. While I know that Zingy always looks at things in the positive aspect, I think that his post is a little off. This thread is open to interpretation and I honestly do not think Colin meant this to be a call to action, but an action to hurt and to stir up the clan.

A few people may not see how this would hurt an admin or Icie. But take it into this perspective:
-----You have played this game Runescape for years now and your main attraction is the clan you helped build up. Nothing brings more joy then seeing more people apply and have fun being active. You give and gave up much of the spare time you have, to doing nothing but give people who play this game. Runescape (and a few who don't), nothing but pleasure. Then someone makes a post about how you aren't helping out, how you aren't doing your job, and how you are helping in the factors of which are killing this clan you created.

Let that moll over you a few times... Then, just think- how would you feel? Betrayed? Hell man, I would.

Now, stirring up the clan can have good or bad consequences. Either it will piss off a lot of people causing them to leave or feel less needed/wanted. Or it will give many people to talk about, increasing activity (which I will admit, it has done to an extent).

And the fact that this was posted in general chat is pretty disturbing, to me. Because if you wanted to help the clan, you would have pmed the so called 'inactive,' right? One might say, 'well I didn't think they would receive it, seeing as how they are inactive,' there is no proof they are inactive. There is tons of proof that they are. I said this in IRC like 2 times yesterday. Just because Skit, Zingy, Beav & Icie don't make it to many events, just because you don't see them post, just because you don't see them in IRC much, does not mean that the clan is going to fall apart. Also, almost all the higher staff, have met the event requirements this month, they have more posts than most members (Staffroom & Admin room = posts) & all higher staff have been in IRC enough with the exception of Zingy.

I know the memberlist isn't as clean as it should be, but that means that the clan is going to die? Pfft. Fallacies ruin arguments. Now, an opponent of my argument would most likely say 'it's those small things that are killing the clan or will cause the death of the clan,' that might be so. But there are plenty of loyal members who won't let that happen. Even people who are totally against me, are loyal- Because it's the fact that they are concerned. I'll be honest, Icie said me and theby are some of the best mods, while I doubt I made the event requirement. So does that mean I'm not active? Nope, it just means that the events aren't favorable for my schedule.

Just thinking about it now...If Im so shitty. Ill quit. Really. Say the word C, and ill bounce. That goes for anyone. If you think Im so inactive and not a help at all, say the word, Ill go.

Mm. I certainly do not believe that the intent of the topic was to get you, or any of the other staff members, to leave. It's simply pointing out how some of the leaders don't really play the game as much anymore.

While I do respect that everyone has grown up and has a lot more responsibilities in real life (which is why I myself became inactive and removed from the clan in the first place), I do think that the staff should at least try to make an effort to play for a decent chunk of time for a day of the week. Sorry if I, or anyone else on the thread are sounding rather condescending, but we're just trying to get our point across about the clan being more inactive.

Regarding Zingy's post, I'll have to say that it's rather nice of him to admit his downfalls, while making suggestions on making the clan better at the same time. IRC is definitely one of the key pieces of the clan, and it's just hard to lead when you can't be where the clan is. His suggestions for helping the clan succeed are also good ideas; some which would definitely help our clan activity.

Just like everyone else, I don't want to see this clan fade away into oblivion. However, we all need to do our part to help the clan succeed. On my own side of things, I'm working on getting membership again so I might become active once more. The brightest dawn lies after the darkest night.

That is a beautiful piece of writing, read it, learn from it, love it. Lol

Joe, that IRC chat meant nothing. Your the only one who asked me those questions and your just defending your position in the clan. I said it because it was needed, maybe not in the way I did it, but I got my point across. I shouldn't feel the need to answer your questions. Why would I want to answer the questions Joe?

I posted it because it needed to be bloody done, if you think their really "active" then your as blind as a bat. I love all of them to death and why should I stir up shit? It's not like I always do it anyways? Your looking at all the negatives in this post.

"This is a place where are members of the Council of Saradomin can come to talk about anything that is on their mind."
I posted what was on my mind. If you feel it's disturbing then it's your call. Dude, there's hella proof their not active? Wheres the fucking proof they are active? Where joe where? In the staff room? Oh damn, right. I'm not staff.

I never said you and Kevin were not fucking active where the hell are you getting this from?

Colin's topic hit me like a car hits a kitten and I admitted to a lot in my longer post. I believe it really wasn't right to post this in normal topics but I guess I interpret it as a wake up call to me and where I am in the clan.

In a way it could have been said nicer but it would be brushed off like a fly so he had to say it the way his post is for anything to happen.

I don't believe anyone is doing a bad job but i believe this is Colin delivering a wake up call to the whole clan itself and he knew someone had to do it so he took the bullet.

Joe, I would agree with what you said about Colin PMing this to the Staff, but seeing as he's not the only member that feels this way, he has every right to post this. If he was the only person who thought the Staff were inactive, this topic would be dead already -or full of flame saying, "What the hell were you thinking by posting this?" There are people out there who feel the same way Colin does, and by attacking Colin, in a way you're attacking those people, too. It's good that this was brought to the attention of the Staff and clan as a whole. Had it been PMed to one individual Staff Members, who knows what would have happened to it. As Colin said, he doesn't have access to those forums. I'm not doubting you, or any of the Staff for that matter, but Colin does have a right to be heard. Maybe coming straight out and calling the Staff "inactive" wasn't the best method. Maybe Colin could have used different words to express himself, but it the words you use don't matter, it's the substance of the words. Writen positively or negatively, Colin's message would have the same impact as it does now.

This post gives other members a chance to say what they want to say, not just Colin. Unfortuantly, everyone is criticizing Colin for this post, and not "discussing" -as I've been told this forum is for- how these things can changed.

And now, ladies and gentlemen, this brings me to my next point. As you all know, I recently posted that the Comments & Ideas forum should be opened to everyone for discussion. It used to be that way, and I think it worked great. But the Staff felt there was too much flame going on between Allies and Members, so only certain member groups can post in the Comments & Ideas forum now, and that forum is used to post suggestions only. Currently, we use this forum if someone wants to express themselves and have their ideas discussed. Well, it looks like the flame's coming back. Why don't ban discussion in this forum too, eh?

Alright guys, since it's obvious from some of the posts in this thread, we can't discuss this without beginning to flame each other (as I warned in my previous post), this will be closed and I will be making one last statement to help this situation.

Colin, you know we all (mostly) like you and have supported you, through your rough RL times and the good times as well. We are hearing what you have said and what many other members have said as well. Temp (jake) was actually the first one to bring these up and he did it through a PM to myself a few days ago.

Whether we do a good job or not, we are here trying to make COS better. We may fail at times to achieve what we and our members would like of us, but it's not always from a lack of effort. And yes, this thread has served as a bit of a wake up call to us that we need to step up our activity levels. While I don't feel it was the original post that did that, rather the amount of people that supported this idea in the following posts.

I have been thinking about doing this for awhile and it seems like a perfect time. Since some of the problems have come down to what is done "behind the scenes", I will make what we are working on public now with the newsletter. I will try to get back into doing it and include in each issue what staff projects are being worked on and I will try to bring more polls back from the past such as, "What would you like COS to improve?". And things of that nature so that our staff can work better with our members and achieve what we all obviously are so angry and hungry for: a united and prominent clan.

If anyone has any comments about this topic or anything at all that they would like to bring up, PLEASE PM me directly about it and I will respond ASAP as best I can.

We are all here to have a good time, no one gets paid, these are not jobs, there are no strings attached. So at the end of the day, let's just try to work together, in a positive manor and makes things more enjoyable and fun.

Thank you,
Proud Leader and Founder of COS,
Icie Juicy
