Barrows Walkthrough Guide I have been to Barrows Numerous Times, and I thought I would make a Guide about it for others to read and learn from. I hope you enjoy my Guide, and use it while Barrowing. My guide may not be fancy but I need to work on this guide a lot more and make it better for people. There are a couple of ways of how you can do barrowing and I will reveal most of them, the ones I know. Also with this guide I will tell you how to save money and gain exp or just do the boring way and spend cash. Table of Contents: • Introduction • Requirements & Recommendations • Location • Equipment & Inventory • Saving Cash and how to buy • Routes and how to get to • The Brothers and Strategy • The Chest and Cat combs • Navigation • Answers to the puzzle doors • Rewards • Starting the next trip • Video • Tips & FAQ • Other Guides Note this content is just saying stuff what I will do but I will also add other stuff which will go any where also there will be massive pictures for some categories. • Introduction This Guide explains how you can do barrows I mainly have wrote all about killing them with magic only cause I find melee not effective unless your going to spend a lot of cash and ranging doesn’t work on them all follow my guide for cheap stuff best mage exp. • Requirements and Recommendations Quests required and recommended Priest in Peril – To enter Mortania Ghosts Ahoy – Teleport to Ectofuntus quick banking and easier to get to canifis In Search of the Myreque – Short cut to Mort’ton Shades of Mort’ton – Use of General Store in Mort’ton so you don’t need to bank just notes. Desert treasures – For the other ancient spells Nature spirit – Another way to pray Plague city – Teleport to Ardougne for quicker to pray Skills required and recommended 43 prayer is a must have so that you can protect from melee mage and range. 55 magic to wear mystic armour and use magic dart (MUST HAVE 55 SLAYER) 70 range to use black dhide and decent wep 51 Magic to teleport to Ardougne 80+ Range more effective on Ahrim (you will save a dose of your prayer potion around 60+ range) 52+ Prayer more time to killing and if you have 70+ prayer you will save another dose of your prayer potion. • Location Barrows is located just east of Mort’on. This is in the in the Mortania area south of Canifis. Also this is just south of the graveyard from Desert treasures. If you open up the Jagex map on main page you will see to the east on the fair right hand side where this place is. • Equipment and Inventory Ok well as you can see the title is a bit funny but it says Equipment and Inventory this is what I bring cause I mostly mage also I like to point at that I have different Inventory’s cause I don’t know how you want to kill them but I kill them all with slayer dart except Ahrim which I range but for Karil some people like to melee but it can take longer which will cost time over 100 combat would be fine to melee him and most people at that level or higher don’t use prayer potions a lot. • Equipment and Inventory This is the inventory which people can bring now I bring the ring of life so that I have chances of not dying sometimes I may not bring no ring and I do or sometimes don’t bring a glory depends on if you don’t mind dying and yes I never bring a shield but some people like to bring a zamorak book but saradomin is cheaper with the same bonus reminder I have 70 range so you can have different range armour than me and arrow’s but like I say I hardly use a lot of food so I mite as well take range armour if you just want to take the bow and arrows then take more food then do so. ![]() • Saving Cash and how to buy Now most guides don’t show you what to buy how to buy saving cash what to do so I wanted to add this to my guide to make it different title is a bit lame but maybe you can understand. Now when you start barrows suggest you have at least 1m depending on trips is if you gain the cash back or if you don’t but I mostly gain the cash back what I spend on prayer potions and runes. Now first you can buy your full mystic 200k, range armour, and your magic bow short and for arrows you can buy steel or 500 rune arrows. Now you don’t really gain all this money back so what I suggest you do is thing of gaining the money back on your prayer potions then your runes then gaining such profits. Prayer potions – There are different ways of getting these you can try to buy them 3 doses for 5k each buying 50 a time which equals 250k this will save you time if I was you id make them 4 doses. You can buy ranarr weeds 5k each so 50 for 250k then you can get the materials for exp snape grass makes them for herblore exp. Now this is the way I use cause I get two lots of exp and save mega money and make more. Buy 16 ranarr seeds for 240k that’s 15k each places like seers world hop or falador world 2 or big worlds now I advice you to make super compost for this once you have planted them all you’ll get farming and herblore exp. On average if you’re using super compost you should get 6-7 ranarr’s a go or if you get 5 then one of the other 3 you planted should give you more than 7 to make it fair. (Reminder you will need to plant 4 a time in all the herb patches and time when you will need to come back easily done) So on average you can make 100+ Ranarrs for the price of 240k that’s less than 250k and you get double. Now what I like to do is I have 32 ranarr seeds to start of with once I have the 16 done and 100+ herbs I make them into potions whilst planting more and then going on trips so as soon as I get done to 0 prayer potions left the other 16 seeds should all be done I normal keep it at this speed and when I am buying cause when you get richer you can buy double the materials runes seeds herbs etc… Buying the runes is pretty straight forward they sell for 300k each if your world hoping you may find deals such as 1k for 200k or 1k deaths for 250k I say buy these even if you have got 1000 deaths at least it will be cheaper. Or you can use the mage guild or varrock store world hope to get 1000 deaths even though this takes longer you can save between 120-60k. • Routes and how to get to Now I know two routes of getting to the barrows and these are the two. I will start of with the long walk one because with the short cut I will be given pictures. So the long walk one you start of in Canifis which you should of done priest in peril. Or if you have done Ghost ahoy then you can use your Ectophial to teleport you to the Ectofuntus from here you walk west to the main square of Canifis. Once you’re in the square of Canifis you need go south–west until you come to a gate enter the gate when you talk to the man saying you’re not afraid. I advice you to put on run 100% and just keep running south until you come to the maze now here is where you can restore your prayer where the pink dot is on the map (Not very clear) you walk in the tree if you have done the Nature spirit quest. (Noted the red line is the long walk one and blue is the short one) Walk through the maze so you can charge your running up until you get to the plank bridge thing walk across it if you have done Shades of Mort’ton then you want get attacked by the shades the general store is here if you have notes so remind your self that from here you go South-East until you see the boat and walk across another bridge then you need to go north then east then south and you should find your way to the barrows. Now for the Short way Head over to Canifis using the upper guide thing with your Ectophial so then you can quickly walk west to get to Canifis go behind the bar, you will find long grass covering a trap door you can only enter if you have done “In Search of the Myreque” now go down the trap door to enter. ![]() Once you go down head south until you come to a wall door which I like to call in search the wall and the door will open keep heading south staying on the right hand side until you reach the Wooden door’s nice and simply open them up and you will enter the swamps. ![]() Once you are in the swamps keep heading south walking I prefer doing until you reach a tree which you can climb up and cross the bridge on it to get down. ![]() Run south until you reach the boat using the guide above you should be aloud to use the boat so board the boat and make way to going to Mort’ton. ![]() You have arrived at Mort’ton cross the little bridge/path and go south from there until you hit the water fountain then go east until you reach the main place of Barrows.

The Brothers and Strategy Here is the location to every brother (Need a picture for this.) This is the older I find that it goes from most dangerous to least dangerous brother. ![]() The older I kill them in is Verac, Dharok, Guthan, Torag, Ahrim, Karil or Karil then Ahrim there are so many different ways to kill them it doesn’t really matter which older it is. But if your doing what im doing the two you may hate in the tunnels is Dharok and Karil because Dharok hits 60+ low hp and Karil hits 20s quick and he is range so you may find one time forgetting to put range on and instead having melee on. In the tunnels you will see a face of one of the brother’s you have killed people say every 30 seconds but this will indicate that you have lost 10-20 prayer points. I will also like to say I find them all easy except for Karil and Dharok but other people find there own stuff easy and hard but to me they can be all easy Dharok the Wretched ![]() Level: 115 Attack Type: Melee Hits: 100 Max hit: 60+ Suggested Method: Magic Special: Every time you weaken Dharok and his hit points get low that’s when he starts to hit harder on you when he nearly is getting to death he will hit in the mid 60’s. Strategy: Pretty easy just wear full mystic and slayer staff and fight him with protect from melee on. Don’t forget to look at your skill monitor (where it shows all your skill stats) And if your prayer is less than 25-30 I advice you to drink a dose other wise you may go down. Strategy in the Tunnel: In the tunnels it is best for them to appear before the chest cause you can hide behind monsters and rocks but when you first get in there I leave my prayer on 0 points then when I see him I quickly drink and now the update is here you mostly get him in the chest room or when you search so when I’ve done the small puzzle at the main door id drink a dose and protect from melee. Guthan the Infested ![]() Level: 115 Attack Type: Melee Hits: 100 (Note you will find this is his hit points but if he heals then it will be higher.) Max hit: 27 Suggested Method: Magic Special: When you have protect from melee on or if you don’t he will every 10-30 seconds reheal depending on what he hit on you even if protect from melee on he will heal 10-20. Strategy: Just keep maging him whilst using protect from melee even thought every time your prayer goes down he will normal re heal him self. Strategy in the Tunnel: Having this brother in the tunnel is sometimes long so I’d suggest having at least 4 dose of prayer potion left because he does re heal still and you loss prayer points faster. Torag the Corrupted ![]() Level: 115 Attack Type: Melee Hits: 100 Max hit: 26 Suggested Method: Mage Special: He drains your run energy so that you loss 100% this is quite bad cause you may have low energy getting through the tunnels. Strategy: This guy is easy really just mage him you will hit your max on this guy and the prayer doesn’t really matter. Strategy in the Tunnel: Very easy in tunnels just when you come to him you don’t need to use prayer just eat some lobsters. Karil the Tainted ![]() Level: 98 Attack Type: Range Hits: 100 Max hit: 21 Suggested Method: Mage or Melee Special: Reduces your agility nothing big but it slows your energy to heal don’t worry about bringing stat restore potions. Strategy: Before you go down put protect from range because some people go wrong and pot on protect for melee and he starts to hit real faster. Strategy in the Tunnel: I don’t like him in tunnels because he like hits fast so as soon as I see him he hits a 15-21 then I quickly drink and he hits another 15-21 then I have to change book and he gets another hit on me which is low or doesn’t get the hit. Ahrim the Blighted ![]() Level: 98 Attack Type: Magic Hits: 100 Max hit: 20 Suggested Method: Range or Mage (Range best.) Special: It will lower your strength but I don’t mind but for those who kill Karil with melee they may want to kill him before Ahrim. Strategy: Before or when you get down there put protect from Magic on if I forget and search he normal doesn’t hit on me but I see a pattern when he uses the white then his spell and hits 15-20s. Strategy in the Tunnel: I pretty much like him in the tunnels cause he is nice an easy to kill so when you come across him down there just remember to protect from mage and it will be over ASAP. Verac The Defiled ![]() Level: 115 Attack Type: Melee Hits: 100 Max hit: 24 Suggested Method: Mage or Melee Special: He will hit you like he is hitting you with no armour on so dont take of prayer. Strategy: Before you go in there put protect from Melee and mage him with slayer darts ancient spells or just Melee. Strategy in the Tunnel: He is very annoying in the tunnles cause when he first comes he attacks you twice 20-24 20-24 before you have a chance to put your prayer on he maybe lucky and hit you again. • The Chest And Catcombs In My eyes, getting to the Chest, and running through the Catcombs is the hardest part. There are Numerous Monsters down there, and Your Mini-map is blank. I suggest killing at least 5 of the Barrow Brothers until you enter the Catcombs. When doing barrows one of the six sarcophaguses will give you an option to enter the tunnels or not. This should be missed out until you have killed the other five brothers to then come back and say yes to going unto the tunnels. (Noted do not drink a prayer potion before going in it will be a waste!) Some doors will not open others will the task here is to get into the middle of the maze when you go up to doors leading to the middle maze a random puzzle will appear meaning you have to do it to get in. If one of the four middle doors which leads in doesn’t have an open option my advice is move your camera angle so that you can see the chest and the other three doors too right click on them to see if they open or not. Also noted when a purple face of on of the brothers appears this indicates you have lost another 10-20 prayer points this will only happened on high detail so don’t go onto low detail cause you want get the reminder. Catcomb Monsters- Crpyt Rat - Level 43 Blood Worm - Level 52 Crypt Spider - Level 56 Giant Crypt Rat - Level 76 Skeletons - Level 77 Giant Crypt Spider - Level 79 Any Barrow Brother That You Have Not Killed. When Down in the Catcombs, All of these creatures will attack you when you go from Room to Room. • Navigation ![]() Credit to Teashek for this map) • Answers to the puzzle doors Please click on the hyperlinks. Puzzle 1 Triangles and circles Puzzle 2 percentages Puzzle 3 Sqaures Puzzle 4 Shapes These are Random in which one you will get and the puzzle can be in different orders but still are the same answers. • Rewards Possible from killing only the six Brothers • Any piece of armour (Common) • Any weapon (Common) • Mind Runes (Nearly Always) • Chaos Runes (Sometimes) • Death Runes (Sometimes) • Coins (Nearly Always) Possible from killing the Brothers and other monsters • Any piece of armour (Rare) • Any weapon (Rare) • Mind Runes (Nearly always) • Chaos Runes (Always depends) • Death Runes (Always depends) • Blood Runes (Always depends) • Bolt Racks (Always depends) • Coins (Always depends) • Dragon Med Helm (Very Rare) • Half Key (Common) • Starting the Next Trip Once you have finished the chest you may decide to start the next trip. Well you can teleport to Ardougne with your two waters and two law runes once there in the market go west until you see the Altar sign and prayer at the Altar after that you can empty your ectophical to be teleported to Ectofuntus from here you will need to walk to Canifis and then in the bank to get more prayer potions and disport the runes you got or if you got an item. If you have Notes and you’ve just finished searching the chest then you may want to find your way out using the map above finding where your ladder is then you can get to the main surface and then going to Mort’ ton to the general store so you can sell Noted stuff and buy back un noted and if you don’t want to waste a potion to recharge your prayer from the last time then go through the maze thing and to the little island with the tree on it (Must have completed Nature Spirit) So you can fully recharge prayer and have 2 prayer points extra. • FAQ I will be happy for people to replay saying that the have a question and i will give them an answer here. 1Q: I don’t have 55 slayer and can’t be bothered to get it up is there any other spell I can use? 1A: Yes you can use Ancient Magic’s or Fire Blast is another decent spell but if you really want to not spend money then try Wind blast. There’s also another one called Fire bolt if you have chaos gauntlets. 2Q: What about Crumble Undead, and a Salve Amulet? 2A: Neither helps you here. 3Q: What Quests have I got to do to take the short swamp cut route (Back door behind the pub?) 3A: In Search of the Myreque. 4Q: Can I kill only one brother to receive a piece of their set? 4A: Yes, you can. Each brother adds a chance of his set to the chest. 5Q: Does a low kill count help? 5A: Yes it does and as far as I’m concern yes it has been confirm under monsters on the official runescape website in the forums. 6Q: How often do you get an item from the chest? 6A: Well I don’t know but I thing it’s got to be 1:50 if not it could be 1:100 7Q: Will a ring of wealth increase the chances of something good? 7A: No, the ring of wealth will not help but also this hasn’t been confirmed ever. 8Q: Can i use a cannon? 8A: So fair i think you can whether this has been changed yet. • Tips I’ve heard if you have 13 or 14 kill count it is the same as having 6 kill count having the same as getting a barrow item but better cause you get runes as well I will try to find on forums what post it was to confirm that someone said this and I don’t know if any one wanted to try. Blood worms increase the chance of more bloods from the chest. Skeletons increase the chance of more deaths from the chest. Credit goes to scarkieztorm for making this guide |

Please do not just copy other people's guides. If you would like to write your own guide, we would be happy to host it. Otherwise, please just post a link to someone else's guide. This saves bandwith on our own site and protects the author of the guide. Thanks, Beaverboy
