Dawnwillow climbed up the 5th dead oak slowly making sure that her weight would not break one of the branches. She climbed on to the middle branch and found her favorite spot. It was covered in soft leaves and moss along with her calico fur. Then she sat in the area and sighed, looking down at the spot where she burried her vole, mouse and bird. A days worth of hunting in her favorite spot! Life seemed to go great today! Snap! Dawnwillow froze. Someone else was there. |

Lynxstar limped out of the brush, not realizing the she-cat was there. After horrifyingly losing the border clash with StreamClan, he wasn't about to face his own clan back at camp. Sure, he had some pretty nasty cuts and scratches, but nothing that couldn't last the night. He winced as he brushed against one of the trees, a particularly deep cut opening again. Blood spilled onto the floor, and he moaned. Not again. This was the third time it had split that night... He needed more cobwebs. He glanced upward, looking for all the homes of spiders. It shouldn't be /that/ hard to find... Snow crunched against his paws as he spotted some in the nook of a tree. Grinning, he wondered if he would be able to make the climb. He had to get it, though, and now that he had spotted it, he wasn't about to give up. Without another thought, he leaped onto the tree, sliding down at first. His claws scraped against the rough bark, feeling like finger nails on a chalk board. Shuddering, he shook himself, blod gushing out of the wound. He leaned over, licking it softly. It had to stop, or else he'd lose to much. If he grew weak out here, he'd die for sure. At least lose a life... and that was the last thing he needed, what, with only six left... He wasn't ready to die. Not soon, anyways. Attempting to scramble up the tree once more, his claws finally caught on something. He pushed himself upward until he finally reached the cobweb-branch, panting. With one last heave, he made it onto the old piece of wood, not realizing he could fall any second. Tired, he took his time in getting the cobwebs. With every breath he took, every second that flew by, the wood below him was becoming weaker and weaker. He was oblivious to it's creaking, and swaying, though. Maybe it was just his own-light headed-ness, or the like. That's what he thought. At last, he put a paw out to grab the cobwebs. His side was throbbing, and his tail was bent, the long line of bones broken in half. He shuddered, not realizing how serious his injuries were. He wasn't the only one, though. Beneath him, the tree was shivering as if cold in the harsh leaf-bare. At the last second his claw snagged on the cobwebs, and stuck to the tree beneath it. He thought he was finally done, and took a last look at the clouds in the sky before hearing a loud, SNAP. With that, he was tumbling through the air, his caught nail tearing off. Yowling in pain, he flew quickly towards the ground, as helpless as a lone kit lying in the snow. He wasn't quick enough to turn himself around, and in too much pain to think of it. Thud. He was lying, nearly lifeless, in the snow. It had softened his fall, but only enough so that it didn't suck the life completely out of him. He found himself wishing it had, though. Pain screamed throughout is body, his leg crushed beneath him, his oddly bent tail bleeding into the snow. His cut throbbed violently, sending flashes of pain up his spine. He couldn't move, he couldn't speak, and could hardly breathe. I'm going to die. That was the last thought that entered his mind before everything went black. The brown-tabby tom cat lay with his eyes closed on the forest floor, the snow around him glowed crimson with his blood. No one, as far as he knew, was there. To this cat, his life was gone, and his clan was leader-less. Was it better that way, though? 00c//Could dawnwillow look down and see him? I want her to save him, then maybe he starts liking her or something. Not sure, though, just maybe. I wanna figure it out all in-character, though. Have her find him, then either run back to camp and get help, or fix up the wounds, or drag him back to camp... -nods- |

00c//sure, that'd be good. Dawsnwillow gasped in horror as she saw her leader's lifeless body sprawlled on the bloodstained snow. She jumped down off the branch to her leaders side. Are you still breathing? Dawnwillow heard Lynxstar groan in pain as the wound opened back up. Starting to panic she looked around for cobwebs. She was no medicinecat, but her mother was until she died and her mother often told stories about what she would do. "Stay here and try to breath!" Dawnwillow mewed to Lynxstar. Then she ran ran into the hole inside of the oak.No! There was no cobwebs there!Calm down, and look aroud. Her mothers voice echoed through her mind and she looked up finding a large cobweb with a albino spider on it. Flicking off the spider with her black paw she gathered the cobweb and raced back to her leader hoping for more time. There was a pool of blood around the brown tabby's body. Hopelessly, she padded the cobweb around the wound then tied it so that it would not come off. But her leader didn't move and Dawnwillow berly felt a pulse. "No! Please don't die on me now!" She ran her tail over the wound and as the leader grunted, she knew that she still had time to save him. Dawnwillow breath started to quicken as she looked for what else that could help Lynxstar. Then froze as she saw poppy seeds across the river. They had just lost a fight with StreamClan but she had to help him. Without thinking Dawnwillow lunged into the ice cold water as her clico fur was slicked down. She had never been a good swimer but none of that even entered her mind now. She snached the poppy and dashed back in the river to Lynxstar. She placed it neer the tree for when he had the will to chew agian and checked his pulse. Nothing. Not now StarClan. Not now! Please! Dawnwillow moved his leg delicetly so that it was not in pain. She wanted to go back and get get help but she couldn't leave him there. He could die if she was not fast enough and what if a StreamClan patrol came? All she could hope for was that he'd regain consciousness and be alive. Dawnwillow waited, trying everything her mother did when she was medicine cat. Hope seemed so far away until she heard a gasp of breath from Lynxstar and tears ran down her face. Was that a gasp of life or...Death? |

A cAT

|
Maskedface trudged through the thin layer of snow, her head thick with worried thoughts. The she-cat felt useless, perhaps she could catch some prey for the clan, it could be a sign of gratitude, though no good deed could make-up for the cowardliness she had shown at the battle with streamclan. What warrior backs out of a fight, Maskedface thought misserably. How could she help the clan? The she-cat was deep in thought, when a strong scent wafted past her scent clans. Maskedface gagged at the sharp smell, was it blood? --- The wind whipped her face as she rushed across the meadow, where was the scent coming from. Spinning around, Maskedface caught a faint whift, it was coming from the dead oaks. She raced towards the group of trees, her legs a blur of frenzied fur, and darted into a dense bramble bush. Maskedface's heart pounded with excitement, was there a battle occuring in grove, or perhaps a wounded starling. But when Maskedface peered out of the bushes the only sign of life she spotted was Dawnwillow, & most puzzling of all was the lifeless bundle that lay in a heap at the she-cat's feet. Maskedface froze in horror, her tail twitching irritably, the bundle smelled oddly familiar... |

Dawnwillow stopped and say Maskedface in the bushes. "Makedface! Thank StarClan another cat is here!" Dawnwillow looked back at her leader. "Lynxstar, he's... still alive but berley and he needs help. Can you go back to camp and get Moonstone and Littlepaw?" She knew that this she-cat was still in shock but they needed more time. "Please, we don't have much time left!" Then she looked back at Lynxstar who still had a faint pulse beating. After some more heart racing moments, Dawnwillow checked his pulse agian. Come on Lynxstar. Be that abitious leader you are and get through this! Suddenly, she felt the pulse beat up agian and he had another gasp. Then it all when silent and the pulse almost stopped dead. Oh StarClan! Dont die on me Lynxstar! All that another cat could hear was Dawnwillows breath and the occantional gasp of air Lynxstar would give off. But in her head, all she could hear was her own thoughts...screaming in the time of panic. Then, one thing stopped her mind from screaming. b-bump b-bump A strong pulse! She could see Lynxstar shifting weight on and off. "Lynxstar, can you hear me?" Then another deathly silence filled the air. |

Lynxstar still lay on the floor, his eyes closed. His breath was shallow, and his heartbeat deathly fast. It was as if he would die, right there, in that spot. The tom's fur was mottled with blood and snow, and you could hardly make out that it was the leader of AshClan the two she-cats were trying to save. Now that he had blacked out, he couldn't feel the pain. But if, only if, he were to die this time, his terrible injuries would suck all the rest of his lives out of him. That couldn't happen, it shouldn't happen. The clan needed their leader, right? He couldn't die yet! ---------- Lynxstar awoke in a strange clearing, feeling healed and better. This was not where he had fallen, though. There wasn't a sign of a tree in sight. He started to pad forward, an odd light shimmering in the distance. Long grass blocked his view, but he needed to get to it. It was a strong urge that he had to follow. As he neared it it grew stronger, and it made him want to go into it. Feel the light upon his skin. With a jolt, he suddenly realized where he was. It couldn't be happening, he couldn't be... No! "Not yet, DreamClan, not yet.": He hissed loudly, gritting his teeth. Without another word, he started padding backward, away from the light. His only hope was to resist the temptation. Maybe, just maybe, someone would heal him before he could hold it off no longer. "Help me." He whispered, a tear brimming in his eye. Weakness is the trait of no good leader. He couldn't fall to it, nor to DreamClan. He'd live through this. He had to... 00c//This doesn't mean he woke up. This means he could live if someone saves him fast enough... Soya. And please don't say he gasped, or his pulse was strong, because that's kind of powerplaying. Every once and a while you can, but not so often. =3 |

00c//Sorry bout that! Its just hard trying to heal someone without being a med. cat! Dawnwillow knew that she had done all she could to help Lynxstar. Weather he was allready dead or if he was still alive was beyond her but she couldn't give up. Soon though, she had tryed everything that she knew. Should she run to get the others?] Then a horrible image swept through her mind. It was Lynxstar in a large valley moving towards a light. There should be a medicine cat becide him now but all there was was a AshClan she-cat with nothing great about her. Then she saw what was causing the wound to bleed. A large stick, the color of his fur was lodged in the wound. Luckly it was not too deep. otherwise, she'd be in big trouble. So Dawnwillow carefully started to take the sick out but stoped and turned away. What if taking it out caused more pain? She had to do it though, it could save Lynxstar's life. So she pulled it out and imediatly put the cobweb on it. Her mind was not here though, it was with her mother. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ "Mother!" Dawnwillow yowled. "Mother, please. I'm no medicine cat, but I need your gidence!" Then an icy cold wind blew through her ears. The wind seemed to tell her to look around. Dawnwillow twisted her head around to see Honey, Coltsfoot, Calendine, and Thyme. She knew life was not as easy as just having the steps givin to you in how to save a cats life, but this was close enough. Four ingreedients, only one would help Lynxstar. Time was running out. So Dawnwillow fallowed her intencts and picked the Coltsfoot. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dawnwillow's eyes flung open to find her leader still on the snow floor with Coltsfoot resting in his paws. Carefully, Dawnwillow tried to put the Coltsfoot down Lynxstar's throught, but her paw was to big. The Coltsfoot was half way down his throut and nothing could fit in his mouth. Dawnwillow started rubbing his neck with her paw, hoping that the Coltsfoot would find a way down. After a moment she checked her mouth and found that the Coltsfoot was down his mouth. She had done all she could, now, it was up to StarClan. Please don't take Lynxstar away from here Dawnwillow prayed. Oh please, not tonight! She had to get help though. So Dawnwillow startted dashing back the camp, she only hoped it was not too late. |

Moonstone shot off as soon as she saw the mauled body of Lynxstar. Her fears were intensoned. She was now worried for every one of his lives. Her ears went flat and the first thing she came too was poppy seeds... She dare not give him a ful dose, what would happen if he fell asleep? She then moved on with chewing the merigold as she applied cobwebs to uninfected wounds. She spread the dock leaves around the scratches. She then did the same with comphry and forced it down his throat or tried. "Dawnwillow." she mewed her eyes glanced over to the Nettle leaves, they needed to keep out infection. "Place this on the swollen wounds... And Sandstep." she began " Place the wiled garlic on the uninfected wounds." she mewed she looked around her own mind was racing. She ran over to his head. "Water." she whispered. "No, don't let him go." she mewed. "As soon as he wakes up well get water for you." she mewed silently to herself, forcing herself to believe he would be alright. |

Upon hearing the order from Moonstone, Dawnwillow picked up the Nettle leaves and padded over to the largest wound neer his back tabby brown leg. This was the one she was worried had got infected. The nettle leaves felt sharp in her mouth and like most herbs it tasted bad in her mouth. Maybe thats beacuse its not suppost to go in your mouth mousebrain She thought to herself. Putting the nettle down, Dawnwillow grabbed a few and stated padding it on the wound. She felt like she needed to go fast but then agian, rushing wouldn't help. So she slowly padded on the nettle making sure that the wound was well taken care of. Seeing that the nettle was acciered to the largest wound, Dawnwillow picked up the remaining herbs and looked for any other infected wounds. She then spotted another swollen area on his back. Before going there, She looed at Lynxstar's bent tail. Strangly it was not infected like she thought. I guess there was blood covering it so much that it only looked it. So the calico warrior padded over to his back and started pressing on the nettle. Minuits after appliying the nettle, looked to find a small cut on the top of his head that was starting to look I bit puffy. So Dawnwillow walked over and appied the herbs. When she finished, Dawnwillow felt great, she acully did somthing that would help the clan! Then a small reminder rung inside her mind. But Lynxstar may not be here to notice it. Shaking that thought back into her mind, Dawnwillow awaited further instructions from Moonstone. |

Noticing that Dawnwillow had finished she looked over. "Here." she mewed she meandered to a bush and pulled out a clump of Moss. "Mind getting this soaked for him?" she asked. Since he hadn't been in camp, or any where else that a warrior had seen him, he musn't have gotten to much water. She then tossed it over to Dawnwillow and looked up. "Thank you." she mewed nodding her head. "Dreamclan Knows what would have happened if you hadn't found him" she mewed before licking off exsess blood. She shook her fur, times like this she was actually nice, and she hopped that no one had noticed, she liked to show off her mouth, it helped establish an understanding... the cats would listen to her. She then bit hard, careful not to draw blood, but enough to hurt him on his leg. 'Tell me you felt that...' she thought silently. She rounded over to him and shook his face. "Wake up you lazy bumb..." she mewed |

Grabbing the moss, Dawnwillow went back to the small stream that flowed close to the dead oaks. The water flowed slower almost saying that she should take her time. Lowering her calico white muzzle, Dawnwillow could feel the icy cool water drifting in her mouth, around her jaw, and in the moss. Then she smiled, Moonstone was very nice then. But, Dawnwillow would not let it show that she knew. Looking down at the moss she saw it flow in the stream. It should be damp enough now She thought. Lifting her head back up agian, Dawnwillow locked her jaws so that it was not too tight causing the water to spill out and so that she had a good grip on it. Padding back over to her leader's body, Dawnwillow droped the moss lightly so that no water would be spilled. She didn't know weither or not she should be the one to squeeze the water into lynxstar's mouth so she just awaited further ourdrs, like an apprentice with her mentor, she waited. |

00c// UGGHH. It deleted my post from day before yesterday! D= I hate it when that happens. x.x I'm SOOOO sorry about being so latee! Sandstep rushed into the clearing, skidding to a halt beside Moonstone. She gasped at the bloody pile of brown tabby fur that lay in a heap before her. Was that really Lynxstar? The leader that had led them into battle so bravely? It couldn't be. Their leader couldn't die over a simple battle-spat. He shouldn't lose a life! Wait- was that all that could happen? Could something... more- no. She couldn't think about that. Her mind racing, she focused on the orders that had been barked at her. She had to help him, and she'd do anything to keep him alive. What was she supposed to to again? Garlic. Something about garlic and uninfected wounds... Put it on them. Yes... Her trance like state was broken by Moonstone's voice. Dawnwillow had finished already? How was she to be any help when she could hardly focus? Finally, she took a step forward. The full moon dappled her coat with flecks of silver, the silence of the forest consuming her. The only sound was her paws, gently thudding against the soft earth beneath them. Trees broke the beautiful moonlight into shards, each thin beam sparkling on the forest floor. Her mind was blank as her body lowered until she was in a sitting position, and she thrust her pink nose into Lynxstar's matted fur, ignoring the fresh blood that escaped from his pelt, soaking hers. After sending a quick prayer to DreamClan that he would be alright, she lifted herself into an upright stance, inhaling the scents of each wound. She discerned the infected gashes and cuts from the untainted by the bitter smell, and only applied the strong-flavored garlic to the unsoiled parts of his body. Her sorrow and fear scent was coming off her in waves as she finally finished her job, and with one last sniff of his blood-reeking scent, she turned back to Moonstone. Ignoring the hot tears sliding down her muzzle, she mewed softly, "He'll be okay, right?" --------------------- Lynxstar was fighting as hard as he could, praying desperately that someone would find him. The temptation to walk into the light was overwhelming, and it took all the effort he could muster to resist it. It had grown dark, the moon was high above him sending rays of silver light down. The colors rippled across his pelt as he padded further and further away from the shimmering tunnel, the one that would take him to SIlverpelt. Wind flowed through the trees, passing soft secrets from one to another. The shadows hid mysterious beings, he could feel their presence. Were they cats? Something else? Shuddering, he took a few more steps forward, concentrating on returning to his clan. He thought of how happy they would be to see him, how glad that he was back, and alive. Soft murmurs flowed from the air above him, but he couldn't understand what they were saying. Was it about him? Was StarClan thinking of letting him go? Sighing with wariness and fear, he turned to look at the sparkling dot of light that was now far behind him. Could it really be that bad to leave his clan? Maybe they'd be better off with Blacktip as leader... He shook his head, ridding himself of these terrible thoughts. He was right for them... They needed him. Suddenly, pain shot through his body, causing him to shudder violently. He started to convulse, his legs twitching, sending soft sand flying in all directions. His eyes opened, clouded over with fear. What was happening to him? Was it... over? Finally his paws rested against the earth, and he was unable to move them. With a soft, barely audible croak, he meowed, "StarClan, don't take me yet!" ((DONE!!)) |

Moonstone glared at Sandstep. "He'll be fine, because its on my head if he isn't" She growled now relinquishing her nice act. She looked towards Dawnwillow before she lay down near Lynxstar. Before anything was said or mewed Lynxstars body moved violently. She lept up. Running over to the water she parted his unmoving mouth and let the mossy water dripp into it. She didn't bother making him swallow it. She sighed. She knew she wasn't getting Sandstep to leave, but prehaps letting Dawnwillow go, if she wanted. "We need warriors at camp." She mewed "Guards and such?" She paused and looked around. "And since both of you will be needed, I think we should get Lynxstar back to camp." Dawnwillow, Please take his right side, and Sandstep take his left, I'll gather my hearbs and take the rear." she mewed as she propped him up nugging him over to a tree with a nuzzle. |

Dawnwillow nodded and went to Lynxstar's right side and paused How could she get Lynxstar up to move him back to camp? She tried moving him up with her frount paws but that failed when his body fell back down on her paws. Dawnwillow bit her lip as the pressure fell on top of her limp paws. Slowly moving them out from under Lynxstar, Dawnwillow used her muzzle to slowly lift her leader from the ground. Her Jaw was a lot stronger then her calico-black paws. Her nose rested in his pelt as she moved Lynxstar up. She could smell DreamClan in his fur. She stopped tears dripping down her eyes like rain sliding down a rock. I...I've had enough of this...She thought. He's bacsicly allready...allready dead... But then her nose picked up something in Lynxstar's brown tabby pelt. It was her ambious and cunning leader. Who had so much prind and strengh, he would never die.He cant die!Dawnwillow felt a brim of hope and lifted Lynxstar up to his feet. Letting go fast enough, she dashed back under Lynxstar and let his right arm fall on her calico back. She looked at Sandstep and then at Moonstone.Thank you guys for coming with me. If not for you guys... She sighed. That did not matter right now. What mattered most would be getting Lynxstar back to camp... |
