Been offered a Two Virgins (stereo) with a mono sleeve. Any info on whether these were first pressings or how this came to be?

There was a second batch of Two Virgins LPs pressed (stereo), possibly for the mainland, which had a unlaminated “mono” sleeve (i.e. it used the mono lay-out). See http://s10.zetaboards.com/BeatlesCollecting/topic/1187590/1/

Some original stereo LPs were released in mono covers as well. These are laminated mono covers, which are not as rare as the mono LP. Probably these were leftover mono covers that were used with stereo LPs.

The label lay-out of the first and second pressings is slightly different, see http://www.applerecords.nl/UK%20LP%20John.pdf

Many thanks Servi. I'll try to get some more information on it.
