I'm not expert enough to tell offhand if it is real, but I share your caution as a general principle for an LP that has been so heavily copied. I definitely would want to see the rear sleeve, and a close up of the front to see how it was constructed.

A sealed first state butcher with a store sticker seems improbable. The only sealed first state butchers I am certain exist were in the batch Alan Livingston saved, and they obviously did not have store stickers.

The few first state butchers were in the first production run of what was, at the time, the hottest selling LP in the US. Consequently, it is very unlikely they would have remained unsold (i.e., dead stock). That leaves the possibility of somebody buying a copy when it was released, never opening it, and holding onto it for decades. Theoretically possible, of course, but very atypical behavior. The only kind of person who would do that is an obsessive collector, who likely would be able to pass the exhaustive scrutiny of a serious authenticator (Perry Cox and his ilk), and would take the trouble to do so.

If the COA is from some random nobody, then I wouldn't touch it noway nohow.

There have been store bought copies of first state butcher covers surface and nearly all of them have been in Sears baggies. Having said that they are exceptionally rare.

There is an easy way to tell a fake or copy of a butcher cover from an original. You need to look at the record number T 2553 in the top right hand corner of the front cover. On an original cover the backs of the 5's are vertical or straight. On the copies and fakes the backs of the 5's are slanted . This "5 " has the straight back. If the "5" s on the front cover are not like this one it's not genuine.

Hope this helps.
