i know mastered by capitol is not on every copy but is it on the earliest ? dunno.

This album is cruelly overlooked however it does surprise me that the mfp version has become collectable.

Probably it's overlooked because it is the worst Beatles release ever (imo). Terrible sound, awful cover and out if tune singing occasionally. And of course almost none of the mid and late 1970s releases is collectible..
The MFP version is not very collectible, Henry. Seehttps://www.discogs.com/sell/release/1344503?ev=rb

well it shouldn't be but i've seen these getting bid up to 20 pounds now, WHY ?

i've even had requests for them, totally madness.

I am not as down as you are on this album servi, for sure the realities of Beatlemania and the equipment limitations of the time mean that the performances were always going to be compromised but its an important snapshot of history and the recordings are clean ( unlike the Hamburg tapes ). It also got a surprisingly good review in the punk bible NME at the time.

I enjoyed it in 1977, of course it was done partly for the demand for it but also to scupper the Hamburg tapes which they were failing to legally stop.

Also the Red & Blue albums and R&R music and Love songs do have some minor collectability - although they have to be minters in the case of the latter two, but i agree after that its the pound bin, which is where the mfp release should be but it isn't......

20 pounds ?? Then my NM copy with import sticker must be a collectible...
Yes, the pound bin is where these belong.
I understand why some people like this album, but at the same time there is so many other live recordings (bootlegs) that sound better and have better singing....it's not the quality of the equipment but it's the continuous scream that hurts the ears.
Personally I can't stand this LP for more than a minute. The recent rerelease reminds of the emperor's new clothes story, it just sounds as awful as the original....

As an aside, anyone heard "hobnails" bootleg of the Hamburg tapes? It is an Incredible listen, I believe , sourced from the original recording ( not the lingasong lp). This is a far more exciting recording than the bowl.
