Hi guys,

I might have missing something but for me this was new thing. I bought The Beatles' Second Album UK export 3rd pressing variant from Sweden few days ago.

At moment the only thing I did was to compare font to the one that was already in my collection. So fonts were different and for me it's reason enough to purchase. Here's the differences:

That's not the issue. I just wondering if this is EMI Hayes common pressing or not? The matrix is common YEEX and mother/stamper codes are 1A, 1A but here's some facts:

slightly ridged label:

and weird scratched out text on deadwax that looks like 58.04.10.1199 maybe... Truth to say it looks like homemade but who ever would like ad some hand-etched code on deadwax (both sides) and then scratch it over again?

Nice one! My "budget" collection has many nice items, but I'm yet to score any export other than Hey Jude.

Cheers AH. My wife have been many times said that it's quite likely that I die before her and definitely she will adjust all my records at the same coffin with me. :D So that's what my collections is worth.

My collection on my blog. Sorry written in Finnish...'

That's a strange one. I'll have to check what I have when I get home.

if it has emi mother stampers then its emi, is it a different matrix though ??

the label ridges are the norm for emi late 69 to late 73, sometimes they are not easy to see but they are there.

Could it be a telephone number in Venezuela? [I am being somewhat serious here.]

Mine is the "normal" one -- narrower font, no weirdness in the matrix, no ridge.

I got mine from a Finnish seller. The sleeve has no flipbacks.

Apart from ebay where can one find these? I'd like to collect them, or at least a few of them, but sense there are better places than ebay to buy.

BTW, the track typeface on the first one is Helvetica Bold (thanks for not calling it the "chubby font"). The other one is the common Trade Gothic Bold Condensed. The former started appearing on UK pressings from 1969.

continental europe and scandinavia are the place to hunt for these Jae, Holland, Denmark etc etc, maybe also Portugal Malta but more often the former than the latter.

Good luck thought these 2 box exports are making bigger money these days, 500 GBP not uncommon at all. They can and do make more money than the original exports.

BTW it seems unbeknownst to me I have both label variants, one in the non flip sleeve and the other in a TWIN flipback sleeve

Both have a ridge ( as i would expect ) but i agree the " Helvetica " font copy has the more pronounced one and also has 1a 1a stampers so it would seem that that particular stamping machine is the explanation and explains why this 69-73 ridge can be hard to see as it can vary with machine..

And now for the money shot, my copy has NO scratched out numbers, suggesting this was owner done not factory.

1969-1971 UK export black and silver labels can be found quite often here in Finland and our neighbor Sweden. Here's an example from one's closed auction. Annoying little when I forgot to make an bid as the final price was less than £ 80...

In my experience the Swedes sellers are very reliable. Seems that this seller's grading is super tight.

it's not difficult to join but there might be some language problems and usually Paypal not accepted.
