HELP! needed on this one:

http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/1...mage.jpg1_9.jpg

http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u395/1...age.jpg1_10.jpg

After having done some research I wonder if this copy is a cross over, as the Ken Thorne credit only appears on side one. I understand that the revised labels should list this credit on both sides. Help me if you can!

Yes. They were clearly still using up side-two labels with the first variation.

Poor Ken (who died two years ago, aged 90)! Out of pecuniary reasons, his contribution is only revealed on side 1 of this copy. Does this add to the value of the record? Can it generally be said that crossovers are more collectible / valuable?

The opposite is true. There are a lot of mis-matched copies. People who collect the label variation usually want them properly matched. The value wouldn't be lower than the first variation, but it isn't higher either.

So it's like buying shoes: Always look for a matching pair! : :)

I'd say it depends on the LP and the relative rarity of the variations. For example, a version 2 copy of Introducing The Beatles with oval/brackets crossover labels is considerably harder to find than matched labels in either style, and generally commands a premium. I imagine the same would apply to B&Y/one box crossovers for the UK LPs.

But oval and brackets are two different BACKDROPS.
Yes, that sort of thing is scarcer.
For example, we have never seen a Beatles album on Capitol with a rainbow label on one side and a green label on the other.

You're right, they aren't the same thing.

I'm a bit surprised there are no known examples of a rainbow/green Capitol crossover, although the labels are so different they would stand out.

I imagine subsidiary/non-subsidiary rainbow Capitol crossovers might exist, since the difference is considerably more subtle.
