I'm assuming that you have the EMI rim.

Was there a "promo" version in the blue LP collection box (the first release) ? In some countries that was the case.

The Blue box version has a promo banner in the corner with "sampler album not for sale"

And the LP ? Does it have a promo label ? In Holland for example, there was a promo label LP in the box, and later the LP was released commmercially.

I don't think so. Mine has a standard label. EMI rimtext.

The one posted in this thread (photo above) is a PCM 1001.

There are three labels to the PSLP 261.
EMI rim: http://www.ebay.com/itm/THE-BEATLES-THE-BE...tMAAOSw3KFWgVuy
ALL RIGHTS rim: http://www.ebay.com/itm/LP-Beatles-Raritie...QIAAOSwMNxXYWpH
The third pressings have "RENTING" information in the rim text.

These are all the "blue box" version.
The commercial release (PCM 1001) is the stand-alone version without the Sampler banner on the back. It exists with EMI and rights print.
I am not sure if there's a "renting" version of the commercial release.

Yes, the EMI rim is the first pressing from 1978-9.

I hadn't looked that closely at the catalogue numbers :(
