I won this German Magical Mystery Tour LP (with a nice Import Sticker on the front) Apple 1C 072-04 449 Has EEC on labels. With the following matrix numbers stamped on both sides of the run out grooves.
SIDE 1: SHZE 327 A 1X and 04449-A-1
SIDE 2: SHZE 327 B 3X and 04449-B-3

I know the above album is a true Stereo press but not sure when its pressed exactly anyone know the year it was pressed? Also the Magical Mystery Tour LP 2009 Stereo mix they used the 1980's CD masters right? So are the SHZE matrix presses still the only way to get a TRUE Stereo of the MMT Album correct? I think i recall reading somewhere that the Stereo masters of the German MMT LP were stolen or am i wrong?

That's an early 1980's copy with the 072 prefix. I have one like it, but mine doesn't have that cool import sticker. I bought my copy in 1981.

Yes. Before 1987 the only way to hear both "Penny Lane" AND "Baby, You're a Rich Man" in true stereo was to have the so-called German version. [It did come out in France and Denmark for sure.] I never liked the 1971 mix of "Strawberry Fields Forever," which is also on the album and which became the common CD version. However, getting to hear all of side two in stereo made it worth it.

The album also came out in true stereo on the MFSL cassette (C-047) in the United States, but the LP had the last three songs in rechanneled stereo.

i believe Frank the first German version was still fake stereo the -1-1 matrix, but shortly after the -3-1 matrix does have it, again i believe you can tell these copies as they have the hor zu headphones on the cover...

happy to be corrected if wrong though

The version released in December, 1971, or January, 1972 (with parts prepared in September), has fake stereo on side 2, yes -- like the US LP.

The next version of the album (same cover and label, but different matrix) came out in about February, 1972 (with metal parts prepared in December, 1971). It has the songs in true stereo.
I have one with the rectangular logo on the cover and original label.

The "headphones"/TV copies came later -- 1973.

ah so you can get the -1-3 in the original covers than.

So far i've only ever found -1-3's in headphone covers, i've yet to see a -1-3 in an original cover, so far but its nice to know as i have been ignoring them up till now ( i need a cover upgrade lol )

The rectangular logo covers are not hard to find but I'm still looking for that original yellow inner sleeve, which accompanied the 71 pressings according to Watzek.

ps i am assuming that is that the yellow inner in question is plain on one side and has lists of various Hor Zu titles on the other ???

mine came with an early 1 box blue odeon pepper but still with the early stickered flip sleeve...

I just checked and I have a SHZE 327 copy with TV logo on sleeve and label, A-1 and B-3. Sleeve laminated on both sides. It is NM all around, and I got it for peanuts before I realized it was considered special in any way.

Yes, the A-1 and B-3 copies exist with the original logo on the cover and label.

That yellow inner sleeve is ridiculously hard to find. Congratulations to the lucky finders out there who have them.
