Hope it comes good for you. I recently took a similar chance on a WTB. All I got was a scored label and a disc not even suitable for framing :(

I'm thinking false Decca (which would be a terrific find)...
True Decca would be unbelievable.

I hope it is a false Decca but I've a funny feeling it's scored looking at the other rings on the label !!

True Decca pressings (early LP's) were actually pressed by Decca.
False Decca pressings were pressed outside of the UK -- often in island countries -- and may have used old Decca machines.

whats the story with false decca/true decca?

also, true Decca's with the grooved labels only exist pre mid 68 when Decca changed their presses to a more standard flat type.

The general consensus is that the " false " Decca's were pressed in Jamaica with UK labels. These also omit the small Decca ring around the spindle hole

Sgt Pepper false Decca's may be pre 68 but they are also likely Jamaica and they omit the small ring also.

I didn't pay that much for it - it'll hopefully be with me within the week. It'll be interesting to see if it is just scoring or if it is the lost Revolver Decca pressing. Due to the polo ring in the centre I don't think it's a 'False Decca', or a Domed pressing. It's either scoring or True Decca IMO.

I remember when I got that Pepper that, on the auction listing, looked *exactly* like a domed pressing, but just turned out to be an incredible illusion caused by rubbing on the label.

Still, finger's crossed!

sadly i would have been surprised had it been otherwise, i blew up the pictures and to me scoring was the most likely scenario as there is a part of the scoring that seems to go a bit inside the " ring " however the pics were so fuzzy it was not a total slam dunk but enough for me to be fairly certain it was not a decca.

However i also appreciate too that nobody likes a smart arse lol !!

Always worth a gamble. I gambled on a very badly described 2A copy of Rolling Stones debut LP and got it for £15, turned out to be the 2A press that had the 2.52 version of Tell Me on it.

There's something else I've gambled on as well, which (if my hunch is right) will be revealed soon... Mwahah!

Looks like damage from a record weight/clamp of sorts.
