Help required to identify when the copy I have was released please.
The sleeve has a pinched spine but has
[c] McCartney Productions Inc 1971
[p] 1971 MPL Communications, Inc. on rear bottom left.
It has the Yellow inner sleeve.
The record has Mfd in UK, An Apple Record, An EMI Recording on labels.
No MPL on labels.
The Matrixes are YEX 871 / 11 [ yes 11 ] and YEX 872 / 1
Is it possible this is a First Pressing record inside the MPL sleeve and why would a later issue have a pinched spine like the 1st Pressing ?
Thanks in advance.

pinched spine is sometimes but not always a useful indicator of dates, I think Speed of sound has a pinched spine for example and thats 76.

I think your assumption of a swapped sleeve sounds most likely.

any mention of MPL usually ( if not always ) indicates late 1975 onwards.

and there's another....i guess they could have printed the new sleeves before the new labels were used, the vinyl weight then might help, generally an EMI album before 1974 will be usually noticeably heavier than a disc pressed after.

if the disc is over 130g i would say its almost certainly a swap.

I found another copy online like that, too.
I think it's probably a transition copy -- using up the Apple labels.

This Ebay listing is exactly like mine, its listed as 1st pressing.
Can it really be called 1st pressing with the -11 matrix on side 1.
I wonder if mine has not been sleeve swapped as this listing would make it a second copy with switched sleeve. I also thought post 75 with the MPL credit on sleeve but I don't remember it at the time being re issued and also still having a yellow inner at this time seems strange as you would expect a plain white EMI inner.

the -11 may be a mis punch the originals came that way.

If your disc is 130g+ i would suspect that it and its yellow inner were swapped into a later better sleeve.

These were in constant press throughout the 70's and into the 80's.

The only reason they did not get the capitol label treatment in 75 was that the label was a customized type, like RRS & BOTR

This coupling: MPL cover with Apple disc with glossy labels is probably right, many copies are verified. A MPL cover with original first-pressing LP with matte labels are unlikely.

agreed and the glossy ones will weigh less usually than the matts...
