Help required to identify when the copy I have was released please. The sleeve has a pinched spine but has [c] McCartney Productions Inc 1971 [p] 1971 MPL Communications, Inc. on rear bottom left. It has the Yellow inner sleeve. The record has Mfd in UK, An Apple Record, An EMI Recording on labels. No MPL on labels. The Matrixes are YEX 871 / 11 [ yes 11 ] and YEX 872 / 1 Is it possible this is a First Pressing record inside the MPL sleeve and why would a later issue have a pinched spine like the 1st Pressing ? Thanks in advance. |

pinched spine is sometimes but not always a useful indicator of dates, I think Speed of sound has a pinched spine for example and thats 76. I think your assumption of a swapped sleeve sounds most likely. any mention of MPL usually ( if not always ) indicates late 1975 onwards. |

and there's another....i guess they could have printed the new sleeves before the new labels were used, the vinyl weight then might help, generally an EMI album before 1974 will be usually noticeably heavier than a disc pressed after. if the disc is over 130g i would say its almost certainly a swap. |

I found another copy online like that, too. I think it's probably a transition copy -- using up the Apple labels. |

This coupling: MPL cover with Apple disc with glossy labels is probably right, many copies are verified. A MPL cover with original first-pressing LP with matte labels are unlikely. |

agreed and the glossy ones will weigh less usually than the matts... |
