Real Or Fake Stickers?

Here are some stickered LPs offered by the same seller. They all look a bit too new, and the RS sleeve looks wrong.

I am especially interested in this "seasons greetings from the Beatles" sticker on this copy of Abbey Road. I recently saw one like it on a copy of the White Album.

Is this a completely made-up sticker, a counterfeit of a known sticker, or a genuine article?

Here are the copies of Rubber Soul and Revolver, with known stickers. Any thoughts on their authenticity. I am inclined to believe they are fake, simply because of the steep odds of somebody finding three pristine stickered LPs without having a pretty convincing back story.

Is it possible for the Revolver sleeve to have so much spine damage in the shrink?

Yeah, I noticed that too. I suppose it is possible if the damage is caused by purely by internal pressure from the disc, but the visible damage seems to be caused more by general wear and tear along the seam.

When I first saw one of those Christmas stickers I thought it might have been genuine. Now I have seen quite a few. That does not make sense, given that none surfaced in 30+ years prior to that time. I suspect that someone bought a bunch of copies and had them re-sealed with stickers. That copy, for instance, has damage at the spine where the record rattled around in the cover. The record is a nice original copy from the Jacksonville plant -- with the correct cover. I'm still skeptical about the sticker.

The color of the yellow background on the Rubber Soul sticker looks like it's a fake, too.
It looks too pale.

The damage to the spine and the excessive ring wear on the Revolver lead me to believe that it is a re-seal job with a fake Yellow Submarine sticker on it.

I also have the greatest amount of skepticism about the same seller's copy of Led Zeppelin II (with dirt on the spine, but still in the shrink with sticker), and perhaps about the Pink Floyd (Meddle) album as well. His copy of the Freewheelin' Bob Dylan (again with sticker) has a sticker and wrap that are definitely fake -- as the album came out the year before shrink wrap came into use on LP's. The original wrap, if any, would have been a loose "baggy." Also, his sticker is CLEARLY on top of the shrink wrap; the stickers for that LP were affixed directly to the front cover.

My gut feeling is that it is fake. Such stickers were widely, even promiscuously, distributed by Capitol during Beatlemania and many of them wound up on record sleeves, typically MTB and BSA. It seems unlikely that retailers would still have these stickers in late 1965. I assume regular fans had saved some, but it seems odd to put one on the shrink-wrap of an LP.

Not saying it's impossible, and the sticker itself might be real, but the likelihood of it having been placed on the shrink at the time of sale seems low. Add in the fact that a sticker is calculated to dramatically increase the value of a common item, and my doubts increase accordingly

I can't add anything to the sticker conversation. However, I am interested in the shrink-wrap situation. Does the shrink-wrap date from the early 60's? Does it degrade over time?

"The Beatles are coming" promo sticker was used during Capitol's initial campaign in January 1964 -- promoting their first Capitol LP and their arrival in the United States.
A lot of them went unused, and a batch of them was discovered in (I believe) the 1980's.
Someone could have purchased a sticker at any time and used it.

Back then they were cheap; now the stickers are $100 each.

It doesn't BELONG on Rubber Soul. A fan probably put it there.

ah so they provided them as stand alone stickers ?

and sent them to stores also to affix to albums ?

what should they be on the Frank ?

( sorry for multiple questions lol )

The stickers could be on anything.
I think Capitol wanted people to see them everywhere: in shops; on sign posts; etc..
That way people all around would be asking, "Who are the Beatles?"

I should clarify. The sticker looks real, but the implication -- that this is a special period-correct promo item -- is false.

so fans could stick them on anything ? They are not really LP related at all

and sticker can make 100 bucks ? ( presumably not a used one )

I'd like to throw a comment in regarding the "Christmas" stickers on Beatles lps.....A seller started posting those, about one at a time over 2-3 years ago and would wait for about 3-4 months before listing another. He started with a Pepper and then a White Album....He was getting close to $1000 a piece on them. I wish I would have saved his Ebay ID as I had my suspicion they were not vintage and something newly created.....I even showed these to local record store dealers that have been in business over 30 years and NONE of them have ever seen one of these before. I am almost positive, these are 100% fake stickers......Note that the seller has had 2 different ID's over the past year.......Big warning sign especially since these first popped up only a couple years ago...and the current seller is "new".....DON'T BID ON THEM!
