I recently picked up a copy of the Canadian LP 'Beatlemania! With The Beatles' and it appears to be a 1966 press as the rimtext contains the word Canada in brackets - "Mfd in Canada by Capitol Records (Canada) Ltd" Are these rarer than the original 1st presses? Is it worth making a big point about it when I list it for sale? I'm currently on Frank's awesome site which states "While the earlier LP's were reissued onto the "Capitol (Canada)" label style, in preparation for the addition of the American LP's to the catalog, two Canadian albums, Beatlemania With the Beatles and Long Tall Sally, were deleted from the catalog in 1967. They were reinstated to the catalog in 1971." So from this can I assume that these are pretty rare? |

Not so much here in Canada Mike. In my experience they're quite easy to come by. And most collectors seem more eager to find the very first pressing without any additional dash and number after the matrix numbers coupled with the unbracketed label. Your copy was pressed from the 4th masters (-4). The great thing about this LP is that it was the first Beatles LP released in North America. And the front of the outer sleeve was altered for the better IMHO. Sonically it was identical to the UK Parlophone release, With the Beatles, and kept the same complement of 14 tracks as the UK issue...I still have my brother's copy that he bought upon release in November of 1963. |

They might be slightly less common than copies with the original label, but warmbuddy is right: collectors want the "true first pressings." These are the copies that came out before 1964 -- in advance of the massive sales of the album. |

Oh well, it's on eBay now as we speak. Hopefully I'll get a few quid for it. Thanks for your help, guys! |
