That fits, then. Still...it came out well before the Contour issue, and I STRONGLY suspect that the stereo label is the hardest to find.

yes i agree Frank cos i have never seen one !

did u and Bruce do the contour release ? there are some variations there too, even on the early sleeved issues from the early 70's one of the labels has a red ring around the perimeter and slightly later ones i think a blue ring....having said that does anybody care much about the contour lol ?

i have a soft spot for it purely cos the 71-74? issue has the best artwork of all the versions imho and it an album I was well aware of in the early 70's when then i knew nothing of the earlier issues.

No, Bruce didn't want to include the Contour reissue because it was on a budget label. The MFP reissues aren't in there, either.

I have a 1978 Contour copy.

Frank, what would be the factor(s) as to why the Stereo edition of The Beatles First could possibly be the hardest to find? Could the answer be as simple as they were issued in smaller numbers?

Since most of the Polydor Special albums were in stereo -- even though they have mono labels through 1968, Polydor probably decided to use up ALL of their mono label blanks first.
Put that together with the fact that most records sell the vast majority of their copies in their first year of release, and the stereo labels are probably quite tough to find.
