i am not a great font of knowledge on these but i do know that the earliest pressings open from the top as well as the side. the top was quickly sealed as the copy i first bought in late 74 early 75 had a sealed top. |

A while ago I asked a similar question. Here's what I found out back then: All John's records were mastered in the US (after he left England), so the metal parts were made (at least for some of the pressings) in LA, then sent to EMI. There are also UK copies that have the YEX-Z5, Z6 matrix without the US matrix. US pressings are not limited to the Z5, Z6 matrices, as more copies were pressed in the US and they would need many more masters. |

No mother/stamper codes seems highly unusual to me. I've never come across something like that before. Has it got a Mtd In The Uk label? |

Yes, that is a first pressing. The Z-5 and Z-6 matrix simply matched Capitol's master matrix numbers for these pressings. They were mastered in the US and were sent to the UK for use there. It is NOT the only UK Lennon solo lp to have this trait. |

thats right, however with regard to the earlier posts on mother stampers if it is a UK issue it WILL have mother stampers, i know of no UK contract fro this album. |

Henry is probably correct, my copy has both US and UK matrix, and has mother and stamper numbers. My copies of MG, RR, and SF are the same, all with stamper and mother numbers. All are 1-U matrix's. As I have said before this doe's not apply to pressings that are 2-U or higher of any of the mentioned lp's. Only the first one's seem to have both the US and UK matrix number. |

I had asked in a different thread about the same lp,in terms of being original, as I have pressings that have diagonal cut inner sleeves and others with rounded cut inner sleeves........ |
