Hi all, something which I hope you can help with. I have a number of UK White Albums (Mono and Stereo) and wondered about the Photos, Poster, and Spacer inserts.

There appears to be three variations of the poster, one printed on glossy paper, one on normal paper and a third which dates from the 1990 reissues and which omits some of the images. Do we know for certain which issues had the glossy poster.

With respect to the photos; there appears to be three slightly different sizes, namely

19.5cm x 27cm
20cm x 28.5cm
20cm x 30cm

I know the latter came with my 1980's issue because foolish as I was I pinned them on my bedroom wall, and still have the holes to prove it, but wondered which size came with which issue of the album..

And finally I have what appears to be a genuine spacer - it is a glossy piece of paper but wondered if it is indeed genuine - are they glossy only.

By issues I mean along the lines of

Sold In UK No EMI
Sold In UK EMI One Line
No Sold In UK EMI One Line
No Sold In UK EMI Two Lines Apple Credits
No Sold In UK EMI Two Lines Harrisongs/Startling Credits

Regards, Michael

yes well observed, there are indeed several posters, but before about 1980 there were only three that i can think of.

all 68 " original " pressings have the matt LARGE poster only as far as i am aware

The pressings after that up until around 1971/2 can have ANY of the other three, there seems to be no rule. From around 73 we seem to go back the the large poster although the smaller poster may still crop up ( but i am not certain of this ) the glossy one was a very short lived variant, around 70-71 only.

as far as spacers yes they are on slightly glossy paper and quite thin. There is another spacer which seems to crop up around 70-71 which is more matt, even thinner and on darker paper, almost biege. These are not seen very often at all.

ps i think the smaller poster may be the same as the bigger one bit it's just " cropped " the side white margin edges have been removed but again thats just from memory.

does this help ?

Thanks for the reply, I take it you refer to the poster (which I did not realise were different sizes as well - it is the photos I am wondering about too. Thanks again

ah sorry, and i did not realise the photo's were different sizes, the only difference in the pics that i was aware of the the first 12 years or so was the colour, 60's pressings have a deeper richer colour, from the early 70's they become much lighter, less vivid in colour.

the sizes do vary country to country so a lot os size differences can be explained by swapped out photos...
