Black Label 'love Me Do' With 45- Cat. Prefix?

When PPM came out on the black label the catalogue number still started with the prefix 45-R. I was wondering if the same applied to the early black label copies of LMD or if they immediately went to just R.

Has anybody ever seen a black LMD 45-R copy?

no it would seem they printed enough LMD Red labels to see them well into mid late 63 so by the time they needed to print new labels the 45 prefix was history...

That is correct and has been proven. There are copies of the last red-label variation on discs with the "KT" tax code. KT didn't start until July, 1963. By then, the 45- prefix had been dropped.

thanks Frank in the back of my mind i thought there were some LMD's with KT on them and certainly MT

and although not really needed some circumstantial evidence is the film made around August 63 which includes the section you see people buying copies of LMD at NEMS with Epstein looking on, its a well shown bit of footage showing copies of LMD with red labels and in green type 1 sleeves ringing thru the till at 6/3 a time ( about GBP 0.32 in modern parlance ).

I think its from the same film where Ringo says he wants to have a chain of hairdressers and Paul talks about writing songs with John after the band ends and John says we may last 5 years of 5 minutes or 5 months or something...Epstein also talks about first seing the Beatles in the cellar full of boyz ;-)
