I added Help! to the list, mentioning all four picture sleeve variations and trying to find all the labels.

I'm glad someone enjoys it. I started the site at the end of 1994.
At the time there were several people posting music files (and getting them yanked by Apple's lawyers), but there weren't any sites for collectible records/tapes.

Now I'm posting all the little details that no one except for me ever cared about before!

1994, really ??? Amazing how time flies. I remember discovering your website when I was in university where internet first became available. Must have been 1994 or 1995. I saved the HTML files so I could view them at home in explorer.

I remember just pouring through all of it way back when I was in college, so around 1999 time. There was yours, Beatles - A Chronicle in Vinyl (sadly gone but I have the website saved) and jpgr.co.uk

If that was Chris Norby's site, it's still up:

As I remember, Chris was designing a Beatles website while he was stationed on various ships in the Indian Ocean and other places. I gave him some advice and sent him scans of records.

When I first started online, there was no "web." Everyone left news messages on servers and uploaded files to FTP sites.

After that I was using NCSA Mosaic. The first search I ever ran showed FIVE sites on the Internet that mentioned the Beatles. I switched to Netscape Navigator when it came out -- which was what I was using when I first posted my site.

Aside: Microsoft bundled Internet Explorer with Windows -- in order to kill Netscape. They succeeded.

At the end of 1994 I came up with an idea for selling things online for free -- by allowing others to pay to use one's site. I had no money, though, so I was unable to do it. However, when I first saw eBay at the end of 1995, it became my favorite site. I ran a search for "Beatles" there and found 100 items (records, tapes, memorabilia). It was like going to a record fair/show every day! Just now... "Beatles" brings up 147,867 listings.

In the meantime, I got a decent scanner and learned how to "stitch" images with it. I was annoyed that at the time the only scanned images of LP's were chopped off (8.5" x 11"). When I met Chris Norby online, I was sending him some album scans -- because basically I was the only one doing that at the time. That was a LONG time ago!

This trip down memory lane is fun, and I'm still working on the website that I started in 1994. Apparently it's a "life's work"!
