Are they only in mono? I'm talking just the original UK APPLE singles, not the reissues. I come to realize all the Parlophone singles are mono, and wondered about the Apple singles! |

As far as I know, "Get back" was the last original UK 7" released in mono. "Ballad of..." was the first stereo release. |

All Beatles parlophones are mono yes, The change over starts in 1969, even at EMI a lot of singles were still issued in mono during 1970 but most Apple singles from the late sixties are in stereo I think... In the states the first Beatles stereo was Get Back I believe.. |

Unfortunately my needle died on my turntable, so I can't even check it out, and on the record itself it does not state stereo or mono, just like the Parlophone singles. Can't win! |

Yes, "Get Back" (and all those before it) were in mono in the UK. "Get Back" was in stereo in the USA and says so on the label. All singles from "Ballad..." on were in stereo in both regions -- except for "You Know My Name," which had not been mixed for stereo. The configuration remained true for all reissues of the original singles until after 1990, although a couple of US singles were accidentally reissued in stereo when the original had been in mono. |

i would say u can usually tell from the matrix, 7xce is mono and 7yce stereo, however the problem with that was on Ballad the stereo's were marked 7xce in error so that doesn't help much either. |

Looks like you are correct sir. "Get Back" was the last UK Apple released in mono, (except for the B side of their final Stereo Let It Be Single > "You Know My Name (Look Up The Number)" which was mono simply because it was recorded in 1967 and never released until then. Funny they never print stereo or mono on the singles, like they do on the LPs. |
