Sooo many variances, but I noticed the 70-80's Beatles Apple reissues are lighter green in colour, but seem to have the same markings/numbers. Specifically 1976 "The Beatles Singles Collection 1962-1970" *** I know in that box set, the Parlophone singles have an EMI box. How else can you tell???? |

Apple singles up through "The Ballad of John and Yoko" have print on them in the middle of the label that reads "Sold in UK..." and refers to resale price conditions. Original copies of "Something" and "Let it Be" have dark labels, the original script rim text, and a font (typeface) similar to what is found on the singles before them. Meanwhile, somewhere in the singles section of this Bulletin Board are singles files corresponding to each original British single. Find that one, and you'll see all the pressings of the single. Some of the pictures are missing, but you'll still get a good idea of what's happening. For example: http://z10.invisionfree.com/BeatlesCollect...p?showtopic=577 |

there are so many ways, as Frank says, up until and including Ballad they have the sold in UK text. The issues from after about 1973 are an insipid light green colour, originals are a lush dark green but there is more, from 1972 EMI changed their singles presses, solid centres disappear for several years and the new push outs have rings around the spindle hole one large one small, usually the A & B sides respectively but not always. The edges are sharp not blunt like the originals There are also some originals that have rings around the spindle hole but these rings are raised & more prominent and of more or less equal size. They are quite sort after. |
