Probably Frank will know the answer....
According to a Billboard report dated 28 Dec 1968 that day's Saturday Evening Post contained a free copy of the Those Were The Days single:

My question: Did this ever actually happen? I got a copy of the 28 dec 1968 Saturday Evening Post and there's no trace of a "special holder glued in' (you would see marks) or any mention of it in the magazine.....
Have you ever seen a copy with the single, Frank, or anybody?

I reported that article from Billboard to Bruce for something we were doing, but I have never found a copy that actually contained the single. There is an article on Mary in the magazine.

I have only found copies that contain a Christmas poster. It may be that the poster was a last-minute substitute for the record.

That's odd, though, because the Billboard article is in the PRESENT tense. They're not talking about an upcoming issue but a CURRENT one -- as though they have seen it. Maybe some copies contained a single, and others contained a Christmas poster (by Sister Corita Kent).

Thanks Frank. I figured it never came with the disc, although, like you I was surprised about the Billboard item being from the same date.
