I don't know much about Oriole mothers and stampers as for me they've just numbers at 9 o'clock. 3 o'clock empty.

I found I Feel Fine Oriole. Side 1 mother "A" at 9 o'clock and stamper "PA" at 3 o'clock. Side 2: "8" at 9 o'clock and nothing at 3 o'clock.

Anyone?

Looks similar to a typical Oriole. (Technically it's a CBS. CBS, parent company
of Columbia Records, purchased Oriole on September 21st 1964 but not
officially named as CBS until 1965. Of course, I Feel Fine was released on
27th November 64 in the UK).

I have three of these IFF Oriole pressings. The mothers vary and can be rather odd
with several variants. However, none of mine have any typical EMI type stamper letters at the 3 o'clock position.

Mine are:

1, 8.
1, 11.
11, 11.

In fact, none of my Oriole pressings have any stamper letters at all.

Therefore, I'm not convinced it actually is an Oriole. Granted, it has a
textured centre but I've seen this on EMI/Parlophone variants. Certainly
Oriole were contracted to press IFF.

Anyway. It's probably best to wait for some more comments from the other guys
before you can come to some sort of conclusion.

Another clue would be the shape of the vinyl edge or weight of the vinyl. Could you
post this info?

That looks clearly an Oriole single to me. It's very strange that it has also letters, perhaps it is a curious mistake, who knows.

Just from memory Oriole weight is far above the EMI average and you can have a good shave with the edge but having just watched two cup finals I can't be two bothered digging out my contracts to check. But my Oriole contracts and issues have varying stampers. Three car boot sales (Flea Markets / Swap Meets ?) tomorrow so will dig them out in a couple of days. Looks great whatever it is.

looks like a classic oriole to me, we know that contract pressings are not always consistent with their stampers, i think even some emi contract pressings for CBS and others do not have mother stampers on them ( but they do have KT tax slugs in the centre... )

Well there you go! The consensus is that it is an Oriole pressing so your next job is
to make head or tail from all the info you've been given!

I'm VERY intrigued by that 'A' mark under the KT on side 1. Definitely not seen that
before.

Jimboo is correct as I surmised. The vinyl will be heavier and have that typical knife
edge. Have a look and let us know...

So I thought that rather weird run-out groove.

What you can't see from the picture is the fact that there's two very light numbers under "A".

"1" and "1" or "11"

Looks like typical EMI pressing mother number 1.

By the way, I've check the weights of my IWTHYH singles. Here's the results:

EMI 1st pressing, PUSH OUT: 35g
EMI 1st pressing, PUSH OUT: 37g
ORIOLE PUSH-OUT: 41g
ORIOLE PUSH-OUT: 39g
ORIOLE SOLID CENTRE: 39g
DECCA PUSH OUT: 39g
DECCA PUSH OUT: 37g
DECCA PUSH OUT: 38g

So there's not much difference after all...

Edge is quite sharp as usually with Oriole, I weighed my IFFs:

IFF Parlophone: 36g
IFF Parlophone: 38g
IFF Oriole: 43g (this one)
IFF Decca: 38g
