Here is a Kenyan pressing of Hey Jude on Ebay (3 days left).
The title of this thread is wrong, it was actually about Kenyan pressings ;)

Here is a Let it be export pressing, with what looks like the Polydor (Kenya ?) ring. A similar copy is depicted in the Spizer/Daniels book.

There is a possibility that people are paying huge amounts for what they think are UK export pressings, while these actually may be foreign pressings.....

I was rereading the Spizer/Daniels book and Bruce mentions in the foreword that he bought the Let it be Parlophone "export" pressing in Kenya in the summer of 1970, so that fits! He paid 3 quid...

This thread is mainly on East African pressings (see previous pages where we identified Kenyan pressings of Beatles export LPs).

I recently bought an East African pressing of Mull of Kintyre, which does not have the typical 3 pronged Phonogram label seen on most EA pressings, but a 4 pronged label. I assume this could be a Sapra pressing. The inner looks very similar to Sapra pressings and as Jae noted on a previous page of this thread the Sapra plant was possibly used around the time that this single came out.

I am a bit puzzled by the "face A" text, which may imply that this was pressed for a French speaking region possibly ?

Any thoughts are welcome about the origin of this pressing, especially by Jae who has done quite a lot of research already for this thread.

Here's a Sapra disc that looks very similar, it even has the smooth edge around the label. It also has "Face A". Coincidence ?

No doubt Sapra.

From my spreadsheet:

Evidence suggests that EMI (East Africa) opened its own plant around 1978 (or took over Sapra?) but closed the plant and pulled out of Kenya completely in 1979, leaving just Phonogram and E.A. Records.

Thanks Jae.
Below are 2 articles from Billboard Sept 1973, showing 1973 agreements between EMI and Sapra.

Yes, as documented in my spreadsheet. ;) if you d/l it you will see the progression from 1966 through 1979...

(I have the source EMI documentation for the first Sapra article you linked).
