Obviously not drawn by a Beatles collector, but funny nonetheless. Posted Image |

I like the sentiment, but the artist chose the wrong album! "Meet The Beatles" hasn't come out on vinyl in 2014....... And I'm pretty sure it never got an official MP3 release in 2005 either!! :) Nice artwork though... ;) ETA: Sorry Servi, I missed your original comment... ;) You spotted it too! |

The dates are nearly all wrong. 1. MTB was released on LP in January, 1964. It was released as a reel-to-reel tape in February-March, 1964. 2. The first release as a standalone eight-track tape was in 1968. By that time, it had been released as a four-track tape, too, as well as on PlayTape. 3. MTB was first released as a cassette tape in 1968. 4. No domestic Beatles CD's were available until 1987. Meet the Beatles was not one of them. 5. No Beatles tracks were legally released as download files until 2009. |

Ha Ha!! :D Well done Frank - I knew a lot of those dates were 'off', just wasn't to sure of the correct ones! I didn't think we'd seen any on CD till '87 - certainly in the UK, but didn't know about the US. And also, was it iTunes that had the first digital downloads, or did the Apple memory stick release come first? If it was iTunes, then there still wasn't an MP3 release, as they use their own proprietary MP4 system, I believe! :) |

Although my memory tells me that the USB stick may have come first, the release date online for the stick is December 8, 2009. So...the downloads on 9 September were first. http://www.squidoo.com/buy-beatles-usb The cartoon seems to want to show that vinyl is back "in." Not that it ever really "left." After all, when Capitol dropped the vinyl catalog in 1990, they had to come back in 1995 with a full set of "limited edition" LP's. When the backstock ran out, they ordered pressings again -- leading to the 2006 issue of Abbey Road that forgot to use Apple on the cover. In 2012, the whole stereo digital catalog was issued on vinyl...again. Meanwhile, many of the new releases were coming out on LP -- at least throughout Europe. I bought: Live at the BBC (US) Anthology 1 (UK) Anthology 2 (US) Anthology 3 (US) Yellow Submarine Songtrack (Europe) 1 (UK/Europe) Let it Be Naked (EU) Love (EU) all on vinyl. Not to mention some of Paul's, George's, and Ringo's albums... MFSL pressings of some of John's records, etc.. |
