Beautiful weather so have been spending time going round the sticks visiting the small thrift shops, second hand and antique shops but apart from a nice Northern Soul score, not much . But a nice guy in an antiques shop had a few mint albums at £2 each, a bit of funk, bought a couple. He asked me if I was into the Beatles as he had a sealed Dr Pepper at home, didn't bother correcting him, its nice to be nice. Well never can work out how much to pay for sealed albums, must be a late issue, or an import. The stuff he had today was all US. So how the hell can you tell whats inside a sealed album. |

Sometimes you can tell by the cover construction, logos, cover print, etc. when it was made, and thus be able to deduce what label style/matrix you would presumably find if you broke the shrink. I must say that this added uncertainty is a third reason why I generally am not interested in sealed LPs (reason 1: the added cost. reason 2: you can't see the label or play the disc). |

There’s a trick to find out what’s inside if you can’t deduce it from the sleeve. Some make a 2 cm incision in the seal and cut the inner sleeve to have a look at the label (I think the procedure was described in one of the earlier editions of the Beatles American price guide), but personally I don’t see the point in doing that. If you keep it sealed, who cares what album is inside (who cares how the wine tastes when the bottle will never be opened) ? If you don’t keep it sealed, you probably wouldn’t have bought it because as socorro says, the prices are inflated. |
