More of Dad's Records: Black sabbath vo6 847903 vty vertigo swirl label and sleeve Ozzy is misspelled as Ossie, but I'm not sure how else to tell if this is one of the first copies? The word/logo "vertigo" is written near the bottom under the spindle hole (so opposite edge to the swirl), whereas on another one I've got the swirl and vertigo are together above the spindle hole, so I'm assuming one label is earlier than the other, but i'm not sure which 1Y*1 420 1P 8 2Y*1 Something (presumably 4?) 20 12 3 What do the stamps mean on these vertigo records please? |

can't tell you much about the stamps, these are standard Philips style matrices, yours is 1y1 and 2y1 so that is the first... However the earliest labels for this LP have a philips record product or something like that at the bottom....I forget the exact wording but only early Vertigo LP's have this .. Again the Ossie thing could be another urban myth, I am not sure but it could be they ALL have it But there are some changes made to the sleeve, I think the stereo box in the cross does not appear on later pressings or if it does it is worded differently..... |

Hehe yay! I also couldn't work out whether it should or shouldn't have the Dunbar credit to be the earliest label? Think I've figured out the stereo box thing - my copy says "copyright subsists in all stereo recordings" which apparently confirms this is the 1st version as the 2nd version had "copyright subsists in all vertigo recordings" Got a Paranoid record too (6360011), but this one has the different logo placement on the label that I mentioned before, so I think this would be the 4th label? It's got the swirl sleeve and label, plus matrices 1y//1 2y//2 http://s1362.photobucket.com/user/Gc5410/m...131bf3.jpg.html Fairly standard late copy then? |
