I doubt many collectors have catalogued there collections , I know I havent.
because I dont think we start with that in mind and by the time you think that you should its swollen to quite a large mass. Then your reluctant to start because you know how much work and how long its going to take you...Phew

Well my daughter inherits my Songs by George Harrison Genesis Books, and my son gets the record collection. He knows what stuff is worth, so hopefully won't sell it for a song if he decides not to carry on collecting. We don't have much crossover as he's into Russian and South African lps and my collection is primarily Uk.

Admiral your'e going to have to stop calling it your Budget collection if you want it to be worth that little bit more. A suggestion for you when it comes to selling or letting it go change the name to 'Admiral Halsey's BIG budget collection.

This somehow fits the topic:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/10/21/f...ml#slide=424102

There it says:

Rock N Roll Keel Over
The British company And Vinyly will process the ashes of the deceased into a working vinyl record. The simplest version costs $3,100 and will get you 30 vinyl copies of the deceased's favorite album...with them mixed in. Is a Frampton Comes Alive joke too easy here?

Why not turn the collection into a vinyl-coffin? I should contact "And Vinyly" and offer them the idea! :)

Much as it pains me to say so, but as far as I am concerned, the quicker I can get rid of the majority of my Beatles stuff, the better. As some of you may remember from a different thread, I got well and truly shafted by a dishonest buyer on eBay about 18 months ago. In short, this guy wanted to return some records, but returned inferior copies of the same discs, bought in a different lot. eBay were no help whatsoever.

The hassle I had dealing with this has put me off eBay for selling "rarer" stuff, and I now only list run-of-the-mill £2.99 type albums (including 96 by Johnny Cash at the moment!) :(

As I often bought large-ish collections simply to upgrade a few of my albums, while selling the rest to cover my costs, I now have a huge stock of albums, singles and EPs (Beatles and solo) and no great inclination to deal with them. (I've got similar numbers of Elvis and Cliff items, but I don't suppose anyone here is particularly interested in that)

So if anyone wants to make a bid on a large job lot of Beatles and solo stuff, probably around 300 LPs and 500 singles, and can pick them up from Glasgow, please feel free to get in touch.

Yes Henry, that would be cool. I have been grateful for the help and encouragement I've had from various people, yourself included, but after what I went through last year, I just don't have the stomach to deal with that sort of thing any more.

Now I'm selling off my entire collection, one by one (almost 30,000 items), and doing my best not to buy more.

I appreciate any assistance any of you could offer.

It's a pretty standard collection, double figure copies of almost all LPs, roughly split between yellow/black and black/silver, plenty coloured vinyl red and blues, maybe around 50+ foreign pressings, etc.

If anyone is genuinely interested, I could run up a general list of what's there, but I'm not going to go into deep detail, like stampers etc. It would suit me more if someone just took the lot.

Dont suppose theres a Macca 'Give Ireland back to the Irish' (with a yellow sleeve) in there? and/or a My Love, Live and let die, Helen Wheels and a Band on the Run (45's of course).
