the dutch thing comes from the imagine, however I might be wrong it could be danish/Belgium even german rather than dutch

This guess comes from the Imagine which has I thnk " dutch ? " matrices in the run out and the UK matrix super-imposed onto the labels, but I'd have to re-check the matrix to put it to guys here who know more...

My guess is purely based on that and it is just a guess, dutch or northern european...

There were some contract copies of Animals too..... first issue... I have one, with that heavily textured centre area, with wide-spine sleeve, so it's possible that some DSOTM were produced at the same time, though I've no idea who produced them. The labels are standard UK issue, and matrixes are standard EMI stamped. :)

This looks similar. 1974 single run private press for the English Folk Dance & Song Society.
Believe it or not these sell for 20 or 30 quid.

amazing....

The closest I have found are those found on some island pressings, very common 69/70 but also still around upto the mid 70's, they also have textured labels and the deeper centre ring

But the parent presser is not island, island were pressed mostly by polydor then after 1970 EMI, but there are these other pressings whoever pressed those islands i believe are responisble for these others.....

Could be SAGA. The opened up a London Plant in 1969. Kensal Road. Not sure about the whole ARC / SAGA / Boulevard connection.

They also had the same stable of folk artists, first album for SAGA and once they got a name the next ones were on Transatlantic. Only noticed this a few weeks ago when going through my much loved economy label collection. Now here is a wee tale.
Sandy Denny First appeared on a SAGA album with Alex Campbell.
She next appeared on a SAGA album where she featured on one side of Sandy and Johnny.
And then Appeared on a Fairport Convention album
What We Did on Our Holidays on the Island label.
Same deep inner ring but with a dish type press.

Just got out the tape measure, the SAGA is 3cm and the Island 3.2cm in diameter, didn't realty need the tape as they just look different with the SAGA groove a lot deeper. Pity I dont have the DSOTM any more.

Over the last month or so been trawling the thrift shops and Ember are now my favourite as they match the DSOTM circle exactly. Ember Records which has been mentioned elsewhere on this site. They had a pressing plant down Brighton way which used Philips equipment. To complicate matters Oriole and Philips sometimes produced the Ember blanks.

Yes i agree consistant with Ember, I had always assumed that somebody else pressed Ember but if Ember pressed themselves I agree Ember...good call

I think Trojan look similar too, but did ember press trojan or vice versa ???

Still a lot of people out there maintaining Ember contracted out their stuff but they bought blanks from other companies when they had a high demand, thus the confusion. Look at the singles here, their first top ten hit Wichita Linesman. Ember became TKO later

I would go for that, a lot of the Ska guys moved from Ember to Trojan once Trojan took off. There seems to have been a lot of interaction between the labels. Also Island had a hand in running Trojan and with a lot of complaints about poor quality vinyl from their own plant Ember probably pressed the Island ones as well. I have a couple of pink labels with the ring. Later Island gave up the ghost and got EMI to do the pressings until Polygram took over I think.

emi took island over around 1971, before that it was polydor/philips 69/70 ( later aka polygram ) but before that it was those ringed pressings only....but you could still get island ringed until the mid 70's but that was the exception

so maybe island were ember pressed first.....
