what with all the recent Love Me Do Demo's that have turned up on Ebay recently and every time they get listed the sellers always stress 'Only 250 made' and the Beatles most rarest record in the world, but to be honest I genuinely think that 'Something' is harder to find purely by its availability.

If money was no object and you had won the lottery and you decided to buy all your missing 'wants' , I think you would pick up the 'Love Me Do' Demo before you found a 'Something' Demo. It makes you think How many were made of these, I think its fewer than love Me Do.

I guess by the time they got to Something, EMI was fairly secure they'd sell themselves :D
As muffmasters new Something listing suggests, this is the single that seems to be the least ubiquitous (on ebay anyway). Maybe that somehow relates to the lack of demos as well. Perhaps because Abbey Road was out for a while before they released the single? Yet it still made UK#4 - so must have sold plenty.
Here is a link to an interesting estimate of UK 45 sales

It seems really odd that there are so many LMD demo's around (it maybe triggered by the 50th) but if you want one (and have the dough) you can get one. In my opinion Something is the hardest demo to find, also PPM is difficult (although there is one on ebay at the mo). But you're right Tone I think most would plump for LMD 1st but personally speaking I won't pay the money asked for a piece of plastic and a little paper!!!!

PS: £1,050 for AHDN demo!!!!

PPS: Did you get a 50th?

One of the hardest indeed....also I think Lady Madonna is one of the rarest.

But I'm always suspicious of all the demos.

Well, the Admiral will have to satisfy himself that he has "held" Beatles' demo singles as they are not within the remit of his budget collection. Unless of course he stumbles across one in a charity shop (he says dreamily)

You never know AH, as I said before on here an Apple 8 turned up in amongst some Reggae singles at 50p each so they are out there, finding them is the hardest thing.

I had an Aust Lady Madonna demo once - had a big blue A on the LM side and a date - sold it without really knowing what it was. I mean I knew it was a demo but didnt really twig on its probable scarcity.

Years ago I stumbled on a white label Thrillington for 50pence. I traded it for some other vinyl priced at £40 at the time (circa 1980). A very nice find and profit. So yes, along with all my other "budget" finds this year (Raccooon mis-spelling at £2 probably the best), I live in hope.
