Hi all! I recently picked up the promo copy of Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields Forever with the stark yellow Capitol label (the one that has the extended trumpet ending) I would say it's in VG to VG+ condition How much would this be worth do you think? Thanks! |

That's a fake alright. The publishing credits, George Martin statement, and the "P" before 5810 are in the wrong font and wrong location. By the way, that's actually a totally different mix. The trumpet at the end is just a noticeable part of the distinction. Frank |

I'm sorry to hear that, I completely miffed on that! Does this fake have any particular value or is it relatively worthless like other fakes? |

Did you buy it on Ebay? If so make a claim and try to return it. |

He thought it was a fantasy counterfeit simply because he didn't believe there was ever a promo for Penny Lane/Strawberry Fields, but me, knowing there was such a promo, thought I would be clever and buy it, thinking it was real. However little did I know that even though the promo does exist, I had bought a fake |

That's about what a decent counterfeit sells for. A genuine promo in NM condition would go for $300. The problem, of course, is that the availability of fakes makes buyers nervous about getting a promo on eBay. The top dealers can get up to $1000 for a true mint copy of the single. |

Is there an easy way to see if you have a fake or a real one ? Is this copy a fake or is it real. I suspect it to be a fake. I have had it for many years, bought from a UK dealer. Posted Image Posted Image Full inscription in the runout A side: 45-45870 G 2 2, and something that looks like an asterisk. B side: 45-45871 F 1 plus the asterisk Cheers Preben Vedsted |

Have a look there, maybe you'll find it out: http://z10.invisionfree.com/BeatlesCollect...?showtopic=1412. Anyway, yours looks a bit too yellow, I do not know if it's caused by the picture itself.... |

That is a counterfeit, too. I actually have one for sale at the moment (with the picture sleeve), if anyone's interested: http://www.fabgear.nl/SiUSA.htm |
