At MuffmasterH's suggestion, I am doing the rarest LPs as a separate list. It's hard to do this list by individual LP, because many countries pressed LPs in such tiny numbers that there may be others that are unconfirmed. Instead, I'll do it by country, and list the LPs from that country that I know exist but are scarce, and note whether there may be others. I have limited this list to authorized records of the Beatles released in the 60s or early 70s (i.e., no bootlegs, no various artist compilations, no Tony Sheridan, no Barbados, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Panama, Belgium, Portugal, or Kenya). I have marked with an *asterisk* the countries where it is insanely hard to find ANY LP released in the 60s or early 70s. Argentina: Por Favor, Yo and Con Los Beatles, on the original yellow Odeon label with dark green print. Australia: Please Please Me, on B&G label and rear cover printed in black ink. * Bolivia: AHDN, Help!, PPM, Rubber Soul, Let It Be, on black or yellow Odeon label. Possibly others. Chile: Historia del Los Beatles, White Album Vol. 1 & Vol. 2. Costa Rica: Help!, Beatles For Sale, Beatles '65, Beatles Second Album. Possibly others. Denmark: PPM, WTB, AHDN (all on B&G label), Hottest Hits * Ecuador: Vol. 1, Vol. 2, Vol. 3, AHDN, Vol. 5, Socorro! * Egypt: Abbey Road * Finland: Oldies, Sgt. Pepper France: Les Beatles on green Odeon, Beatles 1965 with lampshade adhesive Germany: Odeon Impression 6086 (Beatles Beat) and 6279 (The Beatles), Beatles Great Hits (Fonoring), Musik Zum Mitmachen Vol. 4, Ex Libris Help! Greece: Rubber Soul champagne cover, temporary cover for PPM/AHDN/Hey Jude/Sgt. Pepper. Israel: The Beatles In Italy (champagne cover) on B&Y label, Abbey Road and Sgt. Pepper on black/rainbow capitol label. Italy: The Beatles In Italy and Aiuto!, on red label. Jamaica: Help! and AHDN, on B&Y Parlophone, Rubber Soul, Something New & Revolver on black/rainbow Capitol. Possibly others. Japan: Meet the Beatles, Beatles Second Album, AHDN, with original Odeon half obi Mexico: Musart Vol. 5 in stereo, Musart box set Nicaragua: many US and UK versions were pressed in very small numbers on black Odeon, Orange Odeon, black/rainbow Capitol, and Apple. * Nigeria: WTB, AHDN, Rubber Soul, Revolver, Sgt. Pepper. Probably most or all of of the UK catalog, but all in tiny numbers. Norway: AHDN and Beatles For Sale, on purple & white Parlophone/Odeon label, Help! on B&G Parlophone. Peru: Something New, on black/rainbow Capitol label Southern Rhodesia: PPM. WTB, Big Beat, AHDN, all on midnight blue & silver or black & silver old syle Parlophone label. Sweden: The Beatles' Greatest Hits * Thailand: Revolver (perhaps others) Turkey: PPM, Rubber Soul UK: Export versions of Abbey Road and White Album (B&Y), and Yellow Sub (Odeon) US: The Beatles and Frank Ifield (portrait cover), Introducing the Beatles (ad back, blank back, and version 1 stereo column back), Yesterday and Today stage 1 butcher cover. Venezuela: Surfin Con Los Beatles, Yeah Yeah Yeah, Beatles Hits, Beatles '65 |

I believe Aiuto! came out in late September 1965, and in 1966 Dischi Parlophon switched to the black label. In theory, that means that it should have been pressed on the red label for about 3 months. I must admit that I've never actually seen a red label copy of Aiuto! |

There are 3 other Jamaican AHDN copies I could find on popsike, all selling in the same range more or less. I paid 30 euro for my own copy a few years ago. So the 50 you got seems the right price. The other Jamaican LPs are much much harder to find, possibly more copies of AHDN were pressed because the Beatles were at their selling peak in 1964-1965. Some of these lists mentioned above are pure nonsense IMHO. They confuse rarity with value, but we have had that discussion before. Imagine a UK pressing that was released in similar quantities as the Jamaican AHDN, and the price would be a hundred fold more or so. |

Also I've noticed that there are periods in which quite many copies of Australian PPMs appear suddenly.... |

Not with UK sleeves - only the first 500 were issued with UK-made sleeves, all subsequent (from Dec 1963) were issued with Australian-made sleeves. Also, the UK-sleeve/Aussie vinyl combination is very frequently faked, although fortunately not often by people who know what they're doing! So it is easy for those in the know to tell a fake from a real. |
