Hmmmm... don't know that for sure. Check this 1983 Virgin single, it has exactly the same characteristics as this Stand By Me single:

O.K., probably a contract the other way round ?
Most of original UK Virgin pressings from the 80s I've seen so far have the wide ring dish-effect and the flat label edge, as pictured on your EMI promo, which is probably also a contract pressing.
