Thats exactly right Will, this LP was pressed at the hight of Beatlemania and EMI must have had shed loads of sleeves and labels printed which lasted them all the way to 1969 !! Even the Stereo non SIUK labels last until 1965 but they didn't have so many stereo sleeves in stock so you often see 1963 stereo labelled copies in a 1965+ small stereo sleeve! |

Hi, So what of these rare medium size ‘Stereo’ logos sleeves that appeared…. what in early 1964 ? without the ‘Sold in the UK’ text on the labels, I remember reading that these sleeves were printed in error.. what ever the case they were not around for long. My copy of the med. size ‘Stereo’ logo sleeve has got the ‘got a’ spelling on the back of the sleeve, all other med. size Stereo sleeves I have seen have had the ‘gotta’ spelling on the sleeve ! You can see Gotta sleeves up to 1969, no idea why, EJ Day seem to have corrected their sleeves first but Garrod are all over the place, however the sleeves are two piece, the front and flipbacks are one section and the backs a seperate section....it could be a stock room job again the backs were stored randomly and older backs could have been married up from stock and glued onto later front sections before shipping to Hayes to meet their makers!! Its a thought.. The mid size stereo lasts from mid 64 to late 65, you don't see many thats for sure but they are out there, I've sold a couple in the past. I do not believe they were an error at all, this variaition applies to all EMI labels not just Parlophone, you see mid sized stereo's from Frank Sinatra to Nat King Cole, from Cilla to Matt Monroe and Vaughn Williams and the Beach Boys and Cliff....all would have been printed mid 64-late 65 |
