If this from our friend in Austria is the first press label.... Posted Image ....then what about this? Posted Image Both are 1U's and as you can see they are a bit different; the publishing credits differ, so does the text Recorded in England and An EMI Recording at the bottom. |

Well spotted Baard ! I have a 1G copy and even that doesn't have recorded in England on it....thats the kind of thing they put on the US version of this LP - but that label is clearly a UK one... I am confused! |

I have another one :), Wings Wild life this time, maybe a bit simpler. This, with MPL credit and McCartney publishing credit... Posted Image ...in comparison to this, An Apple Record/EMI recording with Northern Songs publishing credit also claimed by Kidney Punch Music. Posted Image Both 871-11/ 872-1 with yellow inners. |

Thats an easy one, and I bet the MPL credit copy is fairly lightweight vinyl, prob a 74 pressing... |

Yes, but I thought the yellow inner only followed the 1st press and the MPL is obviously not that. It could of course been added later. |

Yes, I think so. Up until 1968, he and Ringo were under contract with Northern Songs. When this contract expired in 68 he didn't renew it and founded Harrisongs sometime after. His songs on The Beatles are published by Apple Publishing so he couldn't have founded Harrisongs before that. As Wonderwall was out three weeks before The Beatles, I'd say the one with Northern Songs is the first. :) |

Not boring at all mate, however that first RAM pic is clearly not a frist pressing as it is on the light Apple label of 1973 onwards, bet it's on frisbee thin vinyl as well !! Like I always say if you Matricies can be very misleading..... |

sorry for the typo that should read : " Like I always say if you just go by Matricies that can be very misleading..... " By the way going back to " Wonderwall " my copy had Apple publishing but is a 1R 1R so is from one of the first 600 mother/stampers All this goes to prove of course is that, like on many other releases the labels were corrected prior to going to press and so earlier labels could easily appear on later pressings ( but not too much later though ) |

Yeah, I agree regarding the matrices/mothers/stampers, in combination with labels they are just an indicator to the other. I had originally the earliest labels in mind, regardless of the mms, although I may have forgotten that as early as in the original post. :D But would you agree that the Northern Songs labels are printed before the Apple? |

Yes indeed Baard I would have to agree that the Northern songs labels must most likely be the earliest printed... |

Well well, how interesting, that blows that theory out of the water...... It would seem that the Apple publishing labels are in error... Maybe it was before George switched to Apple publishing and the Apple publishing labels were a bit " previous " and had to be revised quick !! |
